Using Phone Link to make calls with PC headphones & Mic

Similar problem: Both Phone link apps (Windows 11 and Android on Samsung S20) doesn't allow to switch audio to computer. In Windows call is showed in a new window but switch buttons in disabled, in the other hand call in the phone shows connected to computer but switch automatically to phone even when I do manually it keeps switching to phone. Call audio keeps taking place in phone. This functionality worked fine some months ago when I was using same phone and another Windows 10 computer.

I tried all possible solutions I found on the internet including reinstalling apps, unpairing, disabling audio enhancement, allowing all permissions in the phone. All is working fine with my apps in the computer excluding Phone link.

Hope Phone link app team fix this error.

There is an app on the phone or, in the case of some newer Samsung phones, functionality build into Android. However, the problem isn't that audio does not work. It works; it just uses the "wrong" devices for input and output. This is strictly a Windows Phone Link issue on Windows.

The inability to select a device is both a quality issue and an accessibility issue, so I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't taken steps to address it. With respect to quality, my default mic is my webcam mic since it's suitable for applications like talking to Windows (transcribing, search, etc.). It has a "tin can" kind of sound, though, which is horrible for videoconferencing or calls. With respect to accessibility, people who are hard of hearing often need headphones for voice or video calls.

In my case, I use a headset for videoconferencing and audio calls (including Webex, Microsoft Teams, and Skype), but have my default audio devices set to be my desktop speakers since I often listen to music while working. Since this is my arrangement, it's a hassle to change the default devices just so I can use Phone Link. Thus, I don't. I'd love to, though, because it would be really convenient if I could just answer a call on my PC, as I could then talk hands-free.

There isn't a Phone Link app on the phone. The only app I can see is the Link to Windows Service.

I've already set app permissions for Link to Windows Service to allow the microphone to be used, and it still doesn't work.

Can you describe how you were able to set the microphone permission for Phone Link?

check on your phone if you have give permission microphone permission to the phone link app, by default it doesn't ask for permission you have to manually give it in settings it worked for me.

yep im having the same problem. My wired headset plugged into the computer works and I can hear calls, but neither my phone microphone or computer microphone connects and the other person cannot hear me.
