After updating the bios, im unable to activate windows 11, which was already activated. You're telling me I can't update the bios without windows freaking out. I paid for this product and now the only thing the troubleshooter is telling me to do is to just buy another product key. How the hell do I go about fixing this since windows services is just an utter joke? I'm constantly having to deal with fixing **** issues with windows 11. This product is a big joke. The "get help" app does nothing but direct me to exactly what their windows activation page is on the website.
Contacting support did nothing. They told me it's not their issue. Quality service M$

Doing a Bios update resets certain settings like some security settings. Therefore, they need to be set back to the values they were at. Windows11 requires TPM. Not sure Z90's have that and how windows11 was installed in the first place. If you had used a work around this may be the reason.
No workarround. The bios update created the exact same machine in my MS account (duplicate). But cannot reactivate with hardware change option from my machine before BIOS update... Tried to remove the old machine, not working.
It is really a mess.
I don't care if I need to pay for something, but in this case it is simply bad => I paid for a new key when I don't need it. I will always always fear to update a BIOS again.
If I will change a machine, I will begin with BIOS update before activation.... for sure.
I was referring to having to go into your Bios settings and reconfigure the security settings to the proper ones that they were at before bios update as the Bios update WILL reset certain settings to DEFAULT.
I think I changed vcore offset and TDP Turbo limits (why it can matters). But now I activated it with a new licence with Store and I hope for a pay back or for a credit on my gamepass ;)... But it s a shame you cannot be sure when you run a BIOS flash update... MS needs to contact motherboard suppliers and write strong guidelines down... I will not be the last person to have this issue, I m sure of that.
Same issue here. MSI Z690 motherboard. Had to re-enter an old Windows 7 key to fix.
