Windows activation after bios update

After updating the bios, im unable to activate windows 11, which was already activated. You're telling me I can't update the bios without windows freaking out. I paid for this product and now the only thing the troubleshooter is telling me to do is to just buy another product key. How the hell do I go about fixing this since windows services is just an utter joke? I'm constantly having to deal with fixing **** issues with windows 11. This product is a big joke. The "get help" app does nothing but direct me to exactly what their windows activation page is on the website.

Contacting support did nothing. They told me it's not their issue. Quality service M$

Are you sure you were actually on a legit Microsoft Windows store?

I was 100% on the Official Microsoft Store using the built in Windows Store App. Thankfully, after some tech support using live-chat with MS, they were able to refund the purchase.

Unfortunately, the only 'fix' for this (for me anyway) was to reinstall Windows 11 using the edition i had a CD key for. Sadly, this has the effect of me losing my Windows 11 Pro upgrade which I purchased digitally via the MS store last year as my original key was for Windows 11 Home. I might yet try and get further support to get my Pro edition back but this has been so much hassle for something as simple as a BIOS update that I dont know if i want to bother.

It also puts into question digital keys from Microsoft since they dont provide you with a license key and just activate digitally, if you run into this issue and your BIOS seemingly wipes your UEFI or TPM keys, you lose your product. At least with physically purchased keys you have a CD key you can re-enter.

edit: As a side note, I did try the slmgr command and it didnt help. The MS support people also did some attempts using alternative keys. Whatever the BIOS upgrade did, it seems to break something pretty good.

After my update I went into the bios and found that I had to put some things back to where they should be. Also, If you purchased the pro through the store you should be able to go into your Microsoft account or store. Open store, Go to library (lower left) then you need to go to the sort and filter and click, you need to uncheck "show installed products only" you then should see everything you have ever installed through the store. Im not sure if it makes a difference but, if no luck maybe make sure your operating system is not logged in as local account. Hope this helps.

Not sure if it's the same if Win11 is using a digital license, but on my copy, which was an upgrade from Win10, which was itself an upgrade from Win8, the license key is in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform, in the REG_SZ value BackupProductKeyDefault. I have that saved away in case I need to re-install.

Same issue with Z90 Aorus Elite AX Bios update.

First start (BIOS not updated yet), reactivation without issue.

Bios update, WIN11 desactivated again, but cannot reactivate it.

    Tried everything :

The special command in this post.

Removing my duplicate machine linked to my MS account

    Cannot reactivate, cannot contact anybody

    Phone activation option not available

    etc ect

    It is really a shame!

Ordered a new licence and would like to know how I can send a simple request to obtain an account checking and obtain a refund.

I don't like to say that, but MS support site is useless. I m angry because it is theft.
