Windows activation after bios update

I experienced this exact issue today. I went to the msi website to update my bios drivers on my self built pc, and after restarting the "windows needs to update your pin" message popped up. After logging back in I found out that my activation key (that I had just bought a month ago) had vanished. I tried using the "i made recent hardware changes" option and received the "unable to activate" message. I've now been on hold with Microsoft support for an hour trying to figure out what is going on and how to reactivate my windows 11 pro.

This has been going on for well over a year now and Microsoft is well aware of it. A Bios update is not a hardware change and should not invalidate an operating systems license. This is what happens when a company becomes FAR too powerful and has no fear of retribution of any kind. In the not so distant past, acts like this would have had Microsoft in front of congress. The cold hard truth is that Microsoft now "owns" several members of the legal and legislative branches here in the US as well as other parts of the world.

After updating the bios, im unable to activate windows 11, which was already activated. You're telling me I can't update the bios without windows freaking out. I paid for this product and now the only thing the troubleshooter is telling me to do is to just buy another product key. How the hell do I go about fixing this since windows services is just an utter joke? I'm constantly having to deal with fixing **** issues with windows 11. This product is a big joke. The "get help" app does nothing but direct me to exactly what their windows activation page is on the website.

Contacting support did nothing. They told me it's not their issue. Quality service M$

Exact sequence of events happen.

MSI Z690 EDGE WIFI DDR4 MOBO.

After bios update using the MSI center. Initially asks me to update my pin, then I come to find out windows 11 activation is lost. I tried entering the existing key, and it didn't work. I ended up purchasing another key online.

This is incredible having to spend money for repurchase windows.

yes, the key format is what you wrote but it is the one obtained by buying Win10/11 pro over MS Store and read by AIDA64.
There is a silent change by MS about how licenses are handled at least what I can figure out after my new bios update on msi meg Z790 ACE.

The new bios brings some OC Memory optimizations and new microcode's and support for 14th Gen Intel CPU

To be sure before flashing I disabled TPM from bios and here comes the difference, I was able to login directly to Win11 without the idiotic "CHANGE PIN" procedure, no questions asked.
Checked Win status it stated Activated.
Did the flash, set the bios as per my liking but kept TPM Disabled, logged in Win 11 with new bios no question asked and no "CHANGE PIN" BS .

Checked thew activation status and everything is OK.

Don't know for sure but looks like MS did something about the licensing problem or my conversation with MS support and mailing back and forth did something with my account and how it handles the licenses.
I just hope it stays this way and good luck to you people!

I have the exact same motherboard and did the recent bios update and bam here I am trying to figure out this issue, had no idea the bios update would mess up windows 11 pro activation. Was told to run repair media by MS support to solve issue. I did get the change pin issue when first starting it up, just signed in with password, removed pin and set it again that solved it and thought all was good. UNTIL yesturday a windows update and then today a watermark on the desktop to activate, almost seems like the windows update caused it but could have been not activated for the last week since doing bios update and had no idea.
