I gave you the fixes that work most for this error and issue.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

Rudeness is not allowed here at all and will be referred to forums owners.

Greg, please understand that most users who have the skill to identify that "gameinput" redistributable is causing the reboots will have already tried all of the steps you guys have suggested here and elsewhere. Whilst I cannot justify the rudeness I can understand the frustration; I type this mere minutes after once again having a reboot due to the very same issue and after having trawled numerous forums and tried many "fixes".

For clarity: On my 7 month old, Windows 11 computer I didn't have any problems until around Jun16th when the only change to my setup was that I downloaded a game from gamepass. I now have daily reboots whether I'm gaming, browsing or most annoyingly on a work Teams call. Yet, all my drivers are up to date, BIOS flashed to the most recent stable version, chipset drivers all up to date, hardware tests (including mem test) passed, GFX card and memory re-seated, Xbox app uninstalled and deleted using console commands, microsoft gameservices removed, MS store fixed using troubleshooter and console commands, SFC command run, Scan disk passed no errors etc etc... should I go on??

There is clearly an issue here with the redistributable and Microsoft need to do something more than listing out random, time-consuming non-fixes time and time again. Frankly, it's embarrassing for a company of this scale that this is the level of support we are given for a clearly widespread and long standing issue. Nothing personal towards you, of course.

PLEASE can you escalate this and get it looked at with some priority.

Hi Jimmy. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

    1. There's some recent fixes for this here:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    https://www.surfacetablethelp.com/2022/06/gamei...

    1. Go over Windows using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account to replace yours which may be corrupted. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    1. Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page. Everything else depends on this.

    1. If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. Tutorial here: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/fix-windows...

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

I just want to +1 this statement as I am in an identical situation.

I've done all of the above including not just one, but two clean installs of Windows. Both of which had the crashes reappear only after setting up the Xbox app. As of now it seems the only actual solution is to build another machine that I don't mind having crash daily or buy an Xbox?

I also submitted feedback, which seems to have been entirely ignored.

I've been researching this basically every day after my daily or bi-daily crashes. After seeing this question being asked SO many times, with the same set of copy pasted "fixes" suggested every time, it's getting quite stale and extremely frustrating. At least admit there's probably something wrong and have some engineers look into it.

Okay so wasting more time but here we go again.

Obviously the application shouldn't reconfigure daily+, but here we are, and not even uninstalling it can prevent this.

I've done all of the below and more:

Full suite of memtests and disk checks - not ram/drives

Full suite of Windows installation tests: sfc/dsim/drivers/bios/full clean installs x2 with different images - not my image, and furthermore from my experiences the Xbox app itself seems to be the culprit.

This alone knocks out virtually everything you could have suggested short of doing a whole new build, which lets be frank, if the hardware is fine according to every test known and everything else works swimmingly, well I think Occam's razor is a thing right?

My reliability monitor shows Microsoft Gameinput re-configuring at the identical moment of every crash I've had. Period. No other crashes no other variations.

I'd love for it to be something else, but frankly I've exhausted every experiment and test I've seen or can conjure, including the nuclear clean installs (multiple times), and it's given me nothing but wasted time.
