Can't install KB5014668

I've been running Windows 11 since Nov 2021. This is the first update failure I've encountered. I was trying to install KB5014668. It stopped at 25% install and showed error 0x80000ffff. I ran troubleshooter (multiple times) to no avail. Upon a restart, it showed installing an update, in the middle it rebooted and then on the subsequent restart it showed install to 48% then said something went wrong, not to worry as it was restoring. It rebooted again, showing the same message, on the next restart it booted into windows. I've run sfc /scannow and dism restorehealth. Neither showed an error or helped. I use Macrium and also tried mounting an image taken before I tried the update and copied the Software Distribution folder and pasted it over the current folder. No help there either. I am able to download Windows Defender definition updates okay at this point.

I could just restore the whole drive to a point before I tried the install but would like to use that as a last resort. Right now I can perform multiple restarts with it booting straight into Windows. So I'm not sure if I should just wait until the July cumulative is available to see what happens or is there something I can or should try at this point, like try to download and install it straight from the update catalog?

Thanks for any help with this.

Update... I did try to use the Windows Catalog to do a manual install. It seemed to download ok but when I hit install it failed immediately with an error code of 0x80070002 (I got this from the reliability monitor)

    One thing to note in one of my longer posts. I did do the repair install. After a successful install, when it was catching up on applying new updates, the .NET updates and a few others installed fine but when it started to do a cumulative update (not KB5014668), it failed! So it appears it might not be a Windows fault but a third party app, such as suggested it might be Malwarebytes that is causing this problem. And it might not be... remember, on my first attempt to do the repair update, I forgot to uncheck the box that pertained to installing updates while doing the repair and it FAILED the update citing trouble with applying updates. Malwarebytes wasn't running at that time.

    I rolled back successfully, stopped all updates (which caused the failed KB5014668) notifications in update history to disappear???? In any case, I opened a support ticket with Malwarebytes and submitted my CBS log files to them to see if they could determine if MB was the problem. It may take a week for them to get back on this. In the meantime, I'm not feeling great about this and am at the point where it's hard to deal with. (I'm 76 years old and this is getting too stressing for me.) While some say to wait until the July patch Tuesday and see what happens, my experience with the repair install tells me it may not might go so good. So right now, unless someone comes up with something concrete, I'm not touching anything. But I am open to seeing what others are doing.

    I do have three Windows 11 computers, installed on one successfully, failed on the other two. Tried all suggestions listed here and more with no luck. What are we supposed to do now? I certainly do not reinstall windows every time Microsoft provided an update that breaks Windows Update.

    I did this still wont install but it did say initializing but the following did not install thanks for your help but i think Microsoft has to fix this optional update
