Thanks for posting that. I previously did the repair install and except for disabling Malwarebytes it didn't work for me. I've never had MB cause a failed update for me before and when I posted on their forum, the gurus there never heard of MB stopping an update install. (It's always been posted there NOT to run multiple antivirus programs.) I rolled it back and am at the starting point. What I'm seeing here is some work arounds work for some people and some don't work. Glad this one worked for you.
The problem is it shouldn't take a work around to fix this. Especially one that takes that much effort. That may be a little too much for a lot of users.
I ran scripts, did the repair, etc and can only hope something else didn't get broken so the next set of updates on July 12 install okay.
In another thread I started, independent advisor Greg Carmack said it might be best to stay put and wait until the next set of updates come out.
I'm not worried now about trying to get this one to install but more of a mind to wonder what the common thread for all these failures is. I'm guessing we'll never know.
