Can't install KB5014668

I've been running Windows 11 since Nov 2021. This is the first update failure I've encountered. I was trying to install KB5014668. It stopped at 25% install and showed error 0x80000ffff. I ran troubleshooter (multiple times) to no avail. Upon a restart, it showed installing an update, in the middle it rebooted and then on the subsequent restart it showed install to 48% then said something went wrong, not to worry as it was restoring. It rebooted again, showing the same message, on the next restart it booted into windows. I've run sfc /scannow and dism restorehealth. Neither showed an error or helped. I use Macrium and also tried mounting an image taken before I tried the update and copied the Software Distribution folder and pasted it over the current folder. No help there either. I am able to download Windows Defender definition updates okay at this point.

I could just restore the whole drive to a point before I tried the install but would like to use that as a last resort. Right now I can perform multiple restarts with it booting straight into Windows. So I'm not sure if I should just wait until the July cumulative is available to see what happens or is there something I can or should try at this point, like try to download and install it straight from the update catalog?

Thanks for any help with this.

Update... I did try to use the Windows Catalog to do a manual install. It seemed to download ok but when I hit install it failed immediately with an error code of 0x80070002 (I got this from the reliability monitor)

    I've noticed the update is only failing on my two PCs with AMD processors. My other five PCs are Intel processors and the install worked fine.

    I'm not sure about that. I posted another topic asking where is John DeV? Another independent advisor (Greg Carmack) responded and said this update appears to be giving a lot of people a problem and it might be best to wait until Microsoft pulls it, reissues it or until the July 12 updates. He does give a long list of things to try but rather than list them here now, following his advice to wait might be the best option.

    As to the recovery partition, you don't really need it as long as you have a Win 11 install USB available. Booting to that and using the repair option instead of installing gives you the same things. I really don't know what it showing red means but I know that partition has nothing to do with update installs as it does not even exist on my wife's PC and she gets all updates fine.

    I have tried the Malware Bytes uninstall and shut down, Bitdefender Priemum temp off and to no avail. I have tried the trouble shooter and Services msc. thing with no joy.

    I have noticed that in Windows 11 64 bit that my C: drive's Recovery Partition is showing in the RED. I have tried the Microsoft fixes to recover Recovery Partition disk space, also turning off Recovery, deleting the Recovery Partition files, nothing removes the RED warning. It says 90 MB of 634 free.

    Can the Recovery Partition red warning cause the update to fail????????

    Possibly. But after I did an in place repair upgrade, when it was doing updates, the .NET and some others installed ok but when it got the cumulative update, not KB5014668, it did the same thing and failed, but with a different error code. I'm not sure of the number but when I did the repair, I think I was on .313 verson and it was just trying to update to the latest. But since it was a bunch of updates, who knows what order it was going in. I'm hoping John DeV or another moderator shows up soon.
