Both discord, and the built in microsoft audio recorder app, I'm fairly certain that the sound isn't even getting acknowleged by the computer.
Speech Diagnostric Calibrate Error 0x80004003
I tried to setup a microphone for my PC. I got an error from settings -> time language -> microphone start, for Speech Diagnostic Calibrate Error.
OS: Windows 11 Pro
Error:
path: C:\Windows\Diagnostics\Index\SpeechDiagnostic.xml,
error code: 0x80004003 E_POINTER invalid pointer,
comment: elevated ( admin privilege )
It does not recognize speech, but it can record from a microphone with "windows voice recorder."
Please tell me how to fix the microphone error.
Thanks.

2022-06-24T16:51:43+00:00 Nevermind, Thank you very much for your assistance. I managed to get my microphone working again (somehow in sounds in microphone array properties the levels were at 0, maybe because of the update?) so that issue is solved, however now I am unable to click on the sound symbol on the bottom right of the taskbar (I believe it's called the tray?)

2022-06-25T03:06:24+00:00 I'm on Windows 10 and having the same issue. I uninstalled the KB5014699 update successfully, and was able to use the Hidden Windows Update tool to hide the update. This solved the immediate issue of getting the error described in the original post, but the computer is still not detecting any input from the microphone. I checked that the microphone input level is set to 100% (which it is) and I am still getting no input detected.
While the computer was restarting after removing the KB5014699 update, it installed a new update. When checking to make sure the KB5014699 update was successfully uninstalled, I noticed a new update (KB5013942) that has just appeared. Both updates were described as Security Updates for Microsoft Windows, leading me to believe the new update may be causing the same problem. But when I try to uninstall this update KB5013942, I get an error saying "An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled". I cannot figure out what else could be the problem, and I can't get this update to uninstall.
I would greatly appreciate any help with getting this solved.

2022-06-26T20:37:15+00:00 I have the same issues. Rather than execute steps that may not be effective, I will await an update that fixes the problems for once and all times. Kindly put such on the priority list.
