Microsoft GameInput Application Reconfiguration Crashes Win 11 PC

When playing any of my games launched through Battle.net my entire PC will crash, when checking the Reliability Monitor 100% of the time the crash is preceded by a "Successful application reconfiguration" of Microsoft GameInput. I have zero need for GameInput and for what I play I have no issues when I uninstall GameInput, but Microsoft forces the install each time my computer restarts.

I've looked for this issue an is appears it started for users with Windows 10 but there's no solution ever found. Microsoft support has people check their drivers, etc (all of my drivers are up to date and Windows is fully up to date) but no actual solution is offered. As far as I'm concerned I own my computer and should be able to determine which services I do or do not have installed on my PC but Microsoft is forcing this buggy install and I am unable to delete or otherwise modify the root folder this application is contained in.

I'm desperate for some sort of solution to this problem and it would be great if Microsoft would fix whatever this issue is. Having to remember to uninstall this app every time I want to play a game on my gaming PC is frustrating.

    Did you do anything specifically to fix it? As ur last post of 17th december mentions you still have the issue.

    I get the crashes even while browsing so it might be whenever the GPU, RAM, or CPU gets utilized at all. I've tried about every fix I came across by now, updating every and all drivers, the duplicate GameInput removal process etc, BIOS update. But the issue still remains, I am likely about to reset Windows 11 and I will report back if its resolved after that.

    This may or may not be related to a lot of problems I am reading here, but this thread is where I started. I was also getting the GameInput errors and random freezing. In trying to address the gameinput error, I took all the recommended steps out there, disable service, start isolating the driver issues, pulling out components and adding 1 by 1, mem checks, update BIOS and chipset, troubleshooters, installing Windows multiple times, etc. At some point the gameinput errors went away (someone mentioned the wireless Xbox dongle which I also unplugged, not sure). However, the crashes kept coming. For me it turned out that gameinput was never really crashing my PC, it ended up being a setting in the BIOS related to CPU C-States. This setting was turned to ON at some point and it turns off some unused cores that are not being used. I set it to OFF and all my random crashes went away. Anyway, just be sure that the errors showing up in event viewer/reliability are really what is causing some of these freezes or BSODs. Good luck!

    Maybe I buried the fix in the response. But here's what I did:

    1. From Start, search for Services and open as administrator
    2. Scroll down to GameInput Service (you may have multiple entries)
    3. Select and right-click on properties
    4. Select Recovery tab
    5. If the response is set to Restart the Computer, change it to Restart the Service
    6. click OK, exit Services, maybe reboot for good measure - go back and verify settings

    I started face with this issue after recent Microsoft updates. On my Asus Rog Laptop with Windows 11, it usually restarts due LSP not signed issue after Windows Installer reconfigures Microsoft Game Input even though i disabled or delete any related services, files or stop any tasks. I've done quite many steps here and there through registery, command and configuration. After spending tremendous amount of attempts until Microsoft finds a solution i found this solution works for me;

    Unplug the power cable and run the laptop on battery. ( Strange, isn't it ? )

    Hope that is works for anyone out there having the issue. It is a real bugger.
