My Win 11 PC can only wake up by pressing the power button. How do make it able to wake up using the keyboard or mouse?

I have checked the option that says "Enable wake up using mouse or keyboard" somewhere, but it doesn't make any difference.

My PC is updated to the latest system update.

I believe I found the solution, it is a Windows power-saving policy where USB power is cut off when the computer goes into sleep mode, so the keyboard receiver will not work, and the computer will not wake up as a result. You just need to disable this feature.

Settings > Energy e Battery > Energy Recommendations > Stop usb devices when my screen is off to save battery ----> Turn Off.

Now mine has started the blue screen thing where it says it found a problem and needs to fix it or something to that effect. Then it shuts down and restarts again, also loosing anything I'm doing. It had been doing this before it started the shutdown and lock up thing. now it's back -- Can you put windows 10 on these things???????

    To be clear.

I have a Dell Desktop. If left unattended for a length of time it would 'hibernate', and no amount of mouse moves, keystrokes, or other methods I attempted would wake it up. I don't recall holding the power button for 30 seconds, but yes, a hard shutdown was required to get the computer up and running again. And YES. Everything unsaved I was working on had vanished when it restarted.

The issue, for me, was in the BIOS. Since I tweaked the hibernate control I have no issues.

Just to double check, are you having the same issue where my Surface Laptop randomly goes to sleep on its own when I leave it unattended and cannot be awakened except by a 30 second push of the power key. Nothing else will wake it or shut it down. And it gets warm to the touch when it does this. But cools back down as soon as you hold the power key for 30 seconds and it comes back to life. But anything that was going on is gone also, so you have to log back into anything you were working on. Works perfectly outside of this. Maybe of note, I use a MS bluetooth mouse, so nothing usb is being used. and have touchpad turned off.

I have tried the registry settings and other things, but what worked for me in the end is to disable the battery saver setting that turns off all USB devices when the computer sleeps. follow the instructions on this site, but TURN OFF the battery saver setting.
