How do I stop renamed files from moving to upper left corner

A few months ago I switched to a new laptop, then immediately downloaded windows upgrade on it, so I don't know which factor causes this. But ever since, every time I rename a file on the desktop, windows immediately moves the file to the upper left corner of the screen, or the nearest open space to this point. This is confusing when I'm trying to keep track of and arrange my desktop files in some other way, and I have to keep moving the file back to where I want it.

Please see if any of the information at the following link helps. Scroll down to where it says "If unchecking the Auto-arrange icons option didn't work and the icons keep moving, it could be due to several other possibilities".

Please write here, if someone found a fix for the problem.

I'm not having the issue, but I've been keeping an eye out for a solution. I haven't seen anything other than the OneDrive issue. There are similar unresolved threads here, here, here and here. I did ask the person at the elevenforum thread to test with a different account to determine if the issue is system-wide or specific to their user profile, but did not get a response.

That's something I encourage you to try. Please create a new local user (make it an administrator) and test the same thing with that account. If it works fine for the new user, that will help narrow down the potential causes and solutions.
