How do I stop renamed files from moving to upper left corner

A few months ago I switched to a new laptop, then immediately downloaded windows upgrade on it, so I don't know which factor causes this. But ever since, every time I rename a file on the desktop, windows immediately moves the file to the upper left corner of the screen, or the nearest open space to this point. This is confusing when I'm trying to keep track of and arrange my desktop files in some other way, and I have to keep moving the file back to where I want it.

    No 😅🤣😂 I have gave up. I not longer care me to the problem. I think, it is a windows 11 problem and we have to wait the windows 12. I advise you, do not waste your time with this.

    I am glad I found this thread. I am having the same problem. I am using a QHD laptop with an external 4k monitor. I guess we are no further forward with a solution?

    I found if I rename a file using the command line (ren file1.txt newname.txt) the file is permanently fixed and won't move when I rename it normally. I can copy the file and that file will be fixed as well.

    A work-around (and not a very good one) is to rename in an Explorer window, which can be opened with ctrl-n.

    Maybe it's to do with the total desktop width? 2x1920 width ~= 4K width...

    That sounds like a likely possiblity. Does the issue go away when only one monitor is connected?

    This, like the first reply, is also incorrect.

    Yes, it's been established in this thread that there is something else that's causing this issue with 4K monitors. There is, as of yet, no marked answer for this question.

    Be sure to report this issue via the Feedback Hub in Windows.

    I have had this issue since I installed Windows 11 Pro on a brand new PC, 2 months ago.

    It's NOT related to Auto Arrange Icons, as I never turned it on (and it IS off)!

    It's NOT caused by Onedrive, as it's uninstalled!

    It's NOT related to 4K resolution, as I use dual 1080p monitors (side by side)!

    Maybe it's to do with the total desktop width? 2x1920 width ~= 4K width...
