Did not work. All the selections under start were off to begin with.
Another symptom: Take a file in any window, drag and copy to the Desktop. It will not "put here" instead choosing to go to the top left.

A few months ago I switched to a new laptop, then immediately downloaded windows upgrade on it, so I don't know which factor causes this. But ever since, every time I rename a file on the desktop, windows immediately moves the file to the upper left corner of the screen, or the nearest open space to this point. This is confusing when I'm trying to keep track of and arrange my desktop files in some other way, and I have to keep moving the file back to where I want it.

I'm glad that worked for you!!! It's annoying how often Microsoft changes the wording for the same things in their operating system these days. RIP Windows 7!
That worked for me. Bravo!

Hmmm that is angering. I toggled mine back on and then couldn't recreate the problem that was happening before I toggled it off.
