Why does my snipping tool no longer bring up the pop up image to edit?

My Snip tool used to bring the image I captured in a pop up automatically, that I could edit when using the windows key & Ctrl S. It no longer does this? Is there a setting I need to change? I have to actually open the Snip Tool Menu to get this to work now. Not sure if some update was done by my IT people that changed this.

    I just had this issue on my new laptop. And was able to fix it by installing the Microsoft snipping tool. Even though I was able to snip previously using Shift+Windows+S but didnt see any notification and it was just copied to my clipboard.

    Solution:

    I had the same issue - the pop up appeared to markup the snip if I captured it using the "New" button, but not if I started the snipping tool with the shortcut keys Windows + Left Shift + S.

    I am using an external display, duplicating the laptop display to an external monitor.

    I noticed in my Notifications panel that Do Not Disturb was turned on, but I didn't turn it on and didn't want it on.

    I changed this setting and it resolved the issue:

    Settings > System > Notifications > Turn on Do Not Disturb Automatically > When duplicating your display (priority notification banners are also hidden) > UNCHECK THE BOX

    Now when I take a screenshot with Windows + Left Shift + S a pop-up appears at the bottom right and I can use the button "Markup and Share" to edit the screen shot.

    I've no idea why, Anita Fenlon, a screenshot should be huge - mine average about 80KB for JPGs. In any case, the editor window can certainly be persuaded to pop up automatically after taking a screenshot if you follow my fix for Windows 11 concerning 'Default Apps' sent on November 14th. i.e., Settings -> Apps-> Default Apps-> 'Screen Snipping'. Then make "Screen Snipping" the default app for MS-SCREENCLIP instead of "Snipping Tool" - this doesn't make sense to me but it works.

    Bro, this doesn't make any sense to me as well but it works!!! Microsoft still has a lot to learn about software quality. There are so many glitches in Windows that are not tackled for years....

    What a PITA. The pop up notification just disappeared on me with an update maybe 2 years ago. I finally fixed after 3 hours of installing and uninstalling programs. I'm running Windows 10 Education on an old computer so this may be very YMMV but I had to install "Snipping Tool" AND "Snip and Sketch" "Snip and Sketch" allows for notifications in "Action Center" but with my build "Snipping Tool" does not. I think all you need is "Snip and Sketch" but I'm not experimenting with uninstalling "Snipping Tool".
