Why does my snipping tool no longer bring up the pop up image to edit?

My Snip tool used to bring the image I captured in a pop up automatically, that I could edit when using the windows key & Ctrl S. It no longer does this? Is there a setting I need to change? I have to actually open the Snip Tool Menu to get this to work now. Not sure if some update was done by my IT people that changed this.

    I just found a fix to this that worked for me.

    Go to Settings> Apps > Installed Apps > Snipping Tool

    Then Reset.

    After this it started working normally.

    This one fixed the issue!!

    EDIT: this worked ONE time and then it went back to being minimized after a screen shot again. gave up and use different snipping tool now.

    Hi ALL,

    I had the same issue after a company wide update.

    All I did was re-download the snipping tool with the scissors and red dots from microsoft and now the pop-up appears when I take a snip using Shift + windows + S

    Hooray!

    BINGO - I have been waiting over a year for a solution and you win. Thanks this makes my life easier.

    This is what worked for me:

    1. Open Snipping Tool normally via the start menu to get the UI up
    2. Click the three dots in the top left and click Settings
    3. Disable "Automatically save screenshots"

    Caveat that this is in/after updating to Windows 11 for me so I don't know if this is option is in Windows 10, but I didn't even know it was a thing until I ran out of ideas and went digging. After disabling the auto save the popup started appearing for me again (I also went to check my pictures folder and sure enough there were the countless tests screen grabs I'd made!).

    Apologies for no screenshots (ironic), the form keeps saying its failed if I try to upload an image.

    I just don't see the three dots in the upper left on any screen with the snip it tool.

    I also don't see "Automatically save screenshots".

    But I do appreciate all the responses. One day, I will find what I'm looking for or just accept and enjoy what I have.

    On July 12, 2023 I had MS 365 installed. Had to change the passwords on every single app I use. Almost a month later and I'm still discovering things.

    Re: Snippet tool I still use [Shift + Windows + S] to get the prompt. I no longer get an pop up like before (and I've tried everything) - I just know it's there. I open a Word document and hit [Control + V] and paste the image there.

    I later discovered that if I Right Click the actual image it gives me a menu and I can "Save as picture" which sends me to my filing system. It says Picture 1, 2, 3 and so on and I give it a label.

    It's different, it's more steps, but it's working. As I progress with this new system, I'll keep testing.
