Windows clean install-sufficient hard disk storage space. Error 0x800700EE

(1) That's a little spooky -- you've got many GB free on C:, yet it refuses to shrink by 116 MB! Mine shrinks by that amount very nicely. I guess...

(a) Right-click C: in File Explorer, & select Properties.

(b) At the Tools tab, first do a Check.

(c) Then do an Optimize.

If the Check finds something serious (I've read), it will reboot to do it while offline. If all goes well, try to Shrink C: again.

(2) Why did your last Backup & Restore go to two SSDs?

(a) Were they tiny SSDs?

(b) Did you include all those extraneous drives in the image?

(c) It might be good to unplug the extraneous drives, then make an image.

(3) Can you open WindowsImageBackup & show me the VHDXs as requested?

(a) I think I want to mount the EFI in there & try to see its BCD.

(b) Also, we can count the VHDX files. Any number over three (EFI, Windows, Recovery) would mean you've included other, non-system partitions.

I'm using (try to use)

first option left "Opprette en systemavbilding", dette kaper et bilde av OS. Utført siste Søndag, fordelt på to SSD.

Prøver jeg ut valget til høyre, "Opprette en sikkerhetskopi nå" fører dette til BSOD, men jeg vil som du anfører ikke ta med også denne feilen i denne omgangen, men kun til en opplysning. Kan godt medføre til riktighet at også denne måten å ta backup vil fungere når EMS områder blir korrekte. Ja, jeg har ved opplevelsen av merkunderlige feil benyttet restore og jeg har opplevd at gjenskape OS fungerte. MEN, ca med 1 måned som mellomrom tar jeg backup til en 1TB snurredisk, dersom det oppstår problemer med med å restore fra de to nevnte SSD iage.

Jeg tenkte at jeg ville bruke den eminente guiden for opprettelse av EMS ved hjelp av AOMEI Diskpartition Assist.

Do you mean "START, Settings, Update & Security, Backup, Backup using File History"...? ...

I don't use that. Best start another thread about it after the current matter is settled. I would turn it off in the meantime & use another method to back up your personal folders & files.

(2) What I do use is "START, Settings, Update & Security, Backup, Go to Backup & Restore (Win 7), Create a system image".

(a) That one works for you?

(b) When was the latest made?

(c) Did you ever restore one? (I think you might have said so.)

Let's examine the image partitions. Plug in the HDD that holds the system image. Open the WindowsImageBackup folder in File Explorer & drill down to the Backup folder. Sort it by Type (by clicking that in the header) so that all the VHDX files are together. Then show us a picture of all the VHDX files...

The largest VHDX is likely the Windows partition. The smallest is likely the EFI partition. It might also be named "Esp". We can mount those. I'd like to mount the EFI partition & see whether BCDEdit can read the BCD it contains.

(1) You would first create 116 MB of unallocated space using "right-click START, Disk Management", followed by "right-click C:, Shrink volume". This creates enough space for EFI (100 MB) & MSR (16 MB). Unlike AOMEI, Disk Management allows you to specify MBs (instead of GBs) in the dialog. Put 116 into the "Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB" box, then click the Shrink button....

(2) Then AOMEI Partition Assistant can slide C: rightward over the unallocated space this way...

(a) Open AOMEI Partition Assistant.

(b) Select C: partition.

(c) Click Resize/Move Partition...

(d) In the dialog that opens...

1. Put a checkmark into "I need to move this partition".
2. Move the cursor into C:. It will appear as four arrows joined at their base (as I have drawn).
3. Drag that cursor rightward as far as it will go, then click OK.

This will move C: over the 116 MB of unallocated space. Unfortunately, you likely won't notice anything is happening because 116 MB is so small compared to the GBs of C:. Just be sure tactilely that you've dragged it all the way.

4. The Apply button will light up at the top left of AOMEI. Click it & follow instructions to complete the operation which surely will involve a reboot. Or, click the Discard button to cancel it.
