Wdcsam64.sys driver preventing me from turning on memory integrity

I have a driver that is prohibiting me from turning on memory integrity. The driver is wdcsam64.sys. How do I turn it off or delete so I can turn on memory integrity?

    If you don't need this driver (for operating an external Western Digital USB-drive), you may delete it:

    Right-click on Start, then click Windows Powershell (Administrator). In the PowerShell window, enter and run the following command:

    pnputil /delete-driver oem**##**.inf

    Replace ## with the number that appears on the appropriate line of the Windows security message.

    You should now be able to activate the memory integrity option.

    That solution doesn't seem to work with Windows 11. When I check 'Device Manager' in Windows 11, 'Wdcsam64.sys' doesn't show. Can I locate it elsewhere?

    I need the driver to run a Passport external hard drive. And tried updating the driver on my laptop but it says I have the most recent one. I see the hard drive listed in my device manager and it says it's working properly. But, I cannot access it in my file manager to open it.

    Found a simple solution for Windows 11:

    1. Open File Explorer and go to OS (Local Disk C)
    2. Type in search bar wdcsam64.sys
    3. Wait for full search to end.
    4. Choose and delete the item with the description similar to "Wdcsam64.sys"
    5. Do a restart.
    6. Go to Core Isolation and activated

    I noticed this same issue today when installing some updates on my computer as well. I do use the external hard drive so that answers the my question. Thanks!

    Now to show my ignorance even further: If I delete it the way you described above and then attempt to utilize the hard drive, will that driver then need to be reinstalled each time I plug it into my laptop? I feel confident the answer is "yes." The bottom-line question is what security is not being provided to my laptop because of this and are there any workarounds?
