Windows 11 language's basic typing won't finish downloading

There is a known issue that if you type Chinese characters in an English system environment, the word-searching bar would disappear while typing multiple Chinese characters in a row. This issue was never fixed and was very annoying. Today I tried to uninstall the Chinese language pack and wanted to do a reinstall, the language pack was downloaded just fine, but the basic typing was just stuck at the downloading phase and never goes to completion. I've been waited for more than 24 hours already.

Hey guys,

New here but was plagued by the exact same issue (Windows 11 ASUS ROG laptop) and managed to solve it with one of the mentioned solutions. Here is a TLDR and its working perfectly now for all languages for me.

Methods that did not work:
DISM fixes, restarts, regedits, ESD/CAB installations

Method that worked:1. Remove all language packs installed in Optional Features

2. Remove all secondary languages under Time and Language (Just leave the main one)

3. Run an In-Place Windows 11 upgrade (link provided below on how, might take quite a while involving multiple auto restarts. apps and files are not affected at all, read info in link)

4. Reinstall secondary languages, they should still take quite a long while but a tad under 45 minutes for me

    I reset my DNS to 4,2,2,2 and tried to download the Chinese typing again, and it didn't work out. The downloading process stuck at about 70% and would never move on, what's worse is if I restart my computer with this unfinished download, my computer would stuck at "System updating please do not turn off your computer" screen. My PC is up to date besides that Chinese typing download issue, it would keep me at that screen for hours until I can see my login screen, and the only thing that changed after this "2 hours update" is my Chinese basic typing download is reset to 0%. I download a Chinese keyboard from another source and now I'm able to type Chinese words, if this issue can't be fixed easily, I will just leave it as it is now.

    And for my first issue, I didn't explain it well enough. The word-choosing bar only disappears when typing on a browser, and it only happens occasionally. In my case, I'm using Google Chrome, I have recorded a video of this recurring problem. Since the screen recorder can't capture my Chinese keyboard, I had to record it with my phone. The keyboard I used was not a Microsoft keyboard since it wouldn't download, but either the Microsoft keyboard or the keyboard I use looked the same while this issue happens.

    Hello ziyang,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    For the first issue you describe, I tested it on multiple Windows 11 devices. As a result, I was able to type Chinese easily and the search bar did not disappear. I'm sorry that I could not reproduce your problem, but there may be some Settings that can alleviate or fix the problem, which I hope you can try (although reinstalling the input method is a good solution).

    Please click Start -- Settings -- Time and Language -- Language and Region, select Chinese (Simplified, Chinese), open the language options, click Microsoft Pinyin keyboard option -- General, pull down to the bottom, turn Compatibility on, if you are on, please turn it off.

    As for your second question, this means that your device does not seem to be able to maintain a tight connection with Microsoft's servers. I recommend you to try changing DNS: go to Start -- Settings -- Network and Internet-- Ethernet --DNS Server Assignment -- Edit, change to manual, select IPV4, and then change to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1

    Or switch your network carrier, or try connecting to your phone's hotspot function.
