Windows 11 language's basic typing won't finish downloading

There is a known issue that if you type Chinese characters in an English system environment, the word-searching bar would disappear while typing multiple Chinese characters in a row. This issue was never fixed and was very annoying. Today I tried to uninstall the Chinese language pack and wanted to do a reinstall, the language pack was downloaded just fine, but the basic typing was just stuck at the downloading phase and never goes to completion. I've been waited for more than 24 hours already.

Hey guys,

New here but was plagued by the exact same issue (Windows 11 ASUS ROG laptop) and managed to solve it with one of the mentioned solutions. Here is a TLDR and its working perfectly now for all languages for me.

Methods that did not work:
DISM fixes, restarts, regedits, ESD/CAB installations

Method that worked:1. Remove all language packs installed in Optional Features

2. Remove all secondary languages under Time and Language (Just leave the main one)

3. Run an In-Place Windows 11 upgrade (link provided below on how, might take quite a while involving multiple auto restarts. apps and files are not affected at all, read info in link)

4. Reinstall secondary languages, they should still take quite a long while but a tad under 45 minutes for me

Hope it helps for those who are still stuck!

Hello, I have exactly the same issue as described with the "Basic Typing" download that does not finish (in my case for languages English - US and Spanish - Spain). Windows 11 22H2 with latest updates.

The proposed solution with "dism" command did not work for me however, with or without rebooting after its successful completion.

Are there any other actions that you have performed that may have helped to solve the issue?

    Thank you

One more observation for those who suffered the same problems as I was with Microsoft's Language downloading problems: the same time I was experiencing the "never-finishing" download of Language's Basic Type-in, my PC could not be reboot normally - it took "many" hours for the reboot to complete (presumably it was re-install Windows 11? not sure). I am not sure whether this is the same problem as reported by Stefan Manov (refer to Stefan's previous post).

If you have the same bad luck, I am happy to report that running "dism" to its completion and eventually fixed the never-finishing download problem, it also fixed my Windows Restart problem (not a coincidence?). I finally have my PC back in one piece (but regrate I was "tricked" to upgrade to Windows 11 - Damn Microsoft).

Based on my horrible experience, I would like to encourage those who are still suffering: there is a chance it could be fixed. You will need some patience (try a few times), let "dism" run to its natural completion (took me a few hours, quite many :-) ). There may be light at the end of the tunnel. Alternatively, you can always consider reinstall your Windows - while keeping your users files (go System->Reccovery->...) You will have to pay the price to reinstall all the APPs your have installed so far (except Edge, which Microsoft can not be happier to shuffle on you). Good Luck to you All.

Finally, I asked my IT department and login to the administrative account and download the typing. After several attempts, I got it downloaded.
