Windows 11 language's basic typing won't finish downloading

Still not fixed after half a year?

Having a similar issue that emerged recently. Don't know what triggered it. Not sure if it has anything to do with uninstalling McAfee.

Issue: The Pinyin input character suggestion panel doesn't show up. Removed and tried reinstalling the Chinese Language pack again. And the downloading of 'Basic Typing' stuck somewhere between 70% - 80%.

Anyone can report if it also happens to other languages?

Workaround (personal): Downloaded Sougou Pinyin and using it as a substitution now. Works fine in MS Word, didn't try in other MS Office Suite software but supposedly should also work fine?

Computer industry is incrediblely over-paid cause so many "engineers" join the industry , now ,broken softwares and techincal debts are everywhere. hope one day the industry will back to what it's real value. programming is nothing but a common job, so that those "engineers" will not generate technical gabage and leave the industry.

For those who tried methods in this thread but still failed, you can install the language packs manually.

The thread of the link is not about this problem, but the method within works for this problem.

What you need to do with the link:

1. follow the guide to download necessary .cab files and one .esd file.
2. convert .esd to .cab (method in the link).
3. install all .cab files.

Some things to pay attention to: 1. you need to know your windows version (not windows 11 or windows 11 22H2, but more detailed, i.e., OS build, such as 22621) to select and download the correct language pack version.

2. If you do not know how to install .cab files, search online and you will be taught to use command prompt to install them (be sure to run it in administrator).

Encountered this issue long time ago (I just ignored it), and yesterday I just bought a new laptop and this issue happened again. I'd tried DISM method (Admin mode) but the progress won't even running, only showing the image version. Instead of "windows update is running, please don't turn off" hellscape loop, I just reset the PC despite everything is finished setup. This is basically restoring the windows image but in "hardcore" way. You may keep the setting or remove it all (not really though, I had Japanese previously, it's shown in the language setting but it's not in system where you can use/type, just showing there, still need to remove and adding back, ROFLMAO Windows 11).

If you really need this features and DISM didn't work, I'll suggest you to reset the Windows (last resort) or find an alternative that works for you. Good luck to you all.

Since Basic license only support 1 display language, in order to avoid this mess, maybe upgrade to Pro license is the way to go. It's not a bug, it's a feature!
