Description: when my device goes to sleep it closes my apps which were installed with Microsoft Store.

Device: Microsoft Laptop Studio

System: Windows 11, all updates installed, drivers up to date.

Tried: all solutions from topics above.

  1. Reset Microsoft Store.
  2. Re-register all its apps and store itself with a powershell (successfully).

Result: none.

Additional info: I'm using 4-6 desktops and constantly switching between. If I have some of MS apps on some screen it can be closed (without any crash message) just on desktop switching (but not always). If laptop goes to sleep - all MS apps are closed every time.

PS: asked my co-workers with win11 - the problem persists almost on every machine with win11. Weird that Microsoft doesn't fix it. It's very annoying.

    Interesting...

I also use Phone Link and I used mobile hostpot at some point but I have it off at the moment (have not used it/turned on since I re-installed windows and kept my files), but still this might be worth looking at. This sounds psychic, but after I wrote my first reply to this post (a few hours earlier today), I ran "check for updates" in the settings section, and there happens to be a new cumulative update released today. I installed it and the issue seems to have gone away... I have woken up my laptop from sleep multiple times and none of my MS apps have closed after waking up. I don't know if I'm being too hopeful or if the issue has really been fixed. Hopefully I don't jinx it haha. I'll leave a screenshot of my update history if anyone wants to give this a try.

I do not use Phone Link and I've installed the latest Windows 11 update today. The bug is still there, I have a stable repro.

Maybe someone knows how to tag a microsoft team? The issue makes win11 unusable for professionals. It can fall to sleep and loose all your unsaved work.

Agreed. I've tried all the hacks, and while some of them work temporarily, the problem inevitably reoccurs.

This is a huge problem for me. Every time my screen sleeps, Slack goes away. I work remote, and so I'm expected to reply to Slack messages quickly. But as it is, it's sometimes hours before I realized that Slack has been silently killed.

The problem is definitely coming from the Phone Link app. I got the issue back again today and all I have done since then was to disable phone link. I have tested this quite a few times and every time Phone Link runs in the background all MS apps close upon waking up. It doesn't really matter if you don't use Phone Link because it is set by default to start on startup. What I did was just disable it from running when my computer turns on and haven't opened it. You can also try to uninstalling it from windows features, but it doesn't really matter as long as it is not running. Just make sure to restart after you disable/uninstall. I would recommend those that are having an issue to give this a try. I am positive that this is the issue.

I also wish MS would take better care of these threads. It's frustrating that no one has got back to us. Anyways, give the above a try. I'll report back if the issue pops up again.
