The same problem as here:

and here https://github.com/microsoft/terminal/issues/12513

Description: when my device goes to sleep it closes my apps which were installed with Microsoft Store.

Device: Microsoft Laptop Studio

System: Windows 11, all updates installed, drivers up to date.

Tried: all solutions from topics above.

  1. Reset Microsoft Store.
  2. Re-register all its apps and store itself with a powershell (successfully).

Result: none.

Additional info: I'm using 4-6 desktops and constantly switching between. If I have some of MS apps on some screen it can be closed (without any crash message) just on desktop switching (but not always). If laptop goes to sleep - all MS apps are closed every time.

PS: asked my co-workers with win11 - the problem persists almost on every machine with win11. Weird that Microsoft doesn't fix it. It's very annoying.

I have the same issue. The Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($\_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”} script helped couple weeks ago but the problem is back. Any suggestions how to fix it? The problem is extremely annoying.

It seems I've found the solution (but not 100% sure for now).

The problem started after one of cumulative updates. I decided not to uninstall them but reinstall all possible drivers for the laptop.

    Took drivers here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=103505

Last couple of hours - no app closing.

    Hello Elijah -

I'm standing by here to help you if you'll report back results of the steps I gave.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

    Hi Elijah -

I'm just telling you what Windows enthusiasts do to assure best performance, they will only run a Clean Install. Some people don't want to be bothered by it. They want Windows to just run well by itself.

Let's focus on the Store apps themselves. The problem would not be with the Store unless the Store is dysfunctional. Does in install and update apps normally?

    1. See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem started:

    https://itechhacks.com/system-restore-windows-11/

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started. If System Restore is not enabled on C drive do that now so it's available in the future.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...

    1. Try running the Store Apps troubleshooter at Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters
    2. Check if there's another Update for the App in Microsoft Store app > My Library > Get Updates,.
    3. Establish a Clean Boot to get rid of Startup freeloaders that can hog resources and cause issues by conflicting:

    https://www.makeuseof.com/clean-boot-windows-11/

    1. Reset the app trying all four Options here:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/reset-uwp-app-to-...

    1. If those all fail then try uninstalling at the above location, restart PC, then reinstall it from Microsoft Store Settings > My Library.
    2. Run System File Checker/DISM in WIndows 11:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/use-system-file-c...

    1. If that doesn't fix it then you can do a Windows 11 Repair Upgrade which reinstalls Windows while saving your files and apps in place, brings it up to the latest version by the most stable method, takes about an hour and resolves most problems: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

Feel free to ask back any questions. If you'll report back results for each step, including in each link, it can help determine what else we need to try. I will stick with you until it is fixed.
