New issue with unlocking my Samsung phone via phone link app on PC

I've been using the "Phone Link" app on my computer and mobile and this has let me mirror my phone on my computer and enabled me to unlock the phone screen from my PC. However I'm no longer able to unlock from the PC and it is showing the following message: "Unlock on your phone. To keep your credential private and secure, we need you to unlock your phone to continue." Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

    Your solution works great to revert the Link to Windows phone-app to an earlier version and keep it that way.

    But the problem everyone is having is with updated versions of the Phone Link app *on the Windows side*.

    The updated versions of Phone Link on the Windows side require the user to physically unlock the phone before Phone Link will connect to the phone. Earlier versions of Phone Link allow the user to use the PC keyboard to unlock their phone -- which means the user doesn't need the phone to be nearby to use the PC to access the phone.

    Solution:

    1. Go to your phone's "Settings Menu".
    2. Open "Apps".
    3. Find and click on "Link To Windows".
    4. Click on "Uninstall Updates".

    They'll warn you about stuff, do it anyway. This will unpair your phone from Windows, but no worries.

    1. Remove your phone from your Windows Phone Link app.
    2. Open "Link To Windows" on your phone, and reconnect it to "Phone Link" on Windows.
    3. Open "Play Store", search for "Link To Windows", select "Options", and disable Auto-Update.

    That's pretty much it.

    I've got a Samsung Galaxy and I had the same black prompt screen -- for about a month. Then two days ago, the black prompt screen was replaced with the Enter Pin screen complete with a keypad that allows me to use my mouse to enter a pin -- or lets me just type the pin in my PC keyboard and press enter. In other words, everything is working normally again.

    But to be clear, this normal operation is only possible if I have "phone-link-1-22102-202-0" installed and prevent the Microsoft Store from automatically updating this older "202" version to the latest Phone Link app.

    Same issue, I have Z Fold 3 too. It happened after I upgraded to Android 13 if I am not mistaken. Even if the screen is black, all I have to do is to type the pin number on the keyboard and hit Enter key to unlock the phone.

    Thanks to everyone here, after both installing the old windows app and removing updates from android then install from galaxy store, I can unlock from my computer again.

    The only issue left for me is that the PC dialog window remains black when I enter my PIN, so basically have to blind type my password, better than before for sure. I am wondering if anyone else is also having this symptom even after the downgrade. My phone is Z fold3 so it might contribute to this issue?
