I've been using the "Phone Link" app on my computer and mobile and this has let me mirror my phone on my computer and enabled me to unlock the phone screen from my PC. However I'm no longer able to unlock from the PC and it is showing the following message: "Unlock on your phone. To keep your credential private and secure, we need you to unlock your phone to continue." Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

Finally I got it to work! Thanks steve for the tip!

    1. Uninstall the app from your PC via powershell

(open powershell as admin and run Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.YourPhone -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage)

    1. Download v.1.22102.202.0 from https://phone-link.en.uptodown.com/windows/download/86620888
    2. Open Microsoft Store, click profile, apps and untap the 'update automatically' checkbox
    3. On your phone, remove all updates from Phone Link Service (something like that) and the Link app itself.
    4. On your phone, download version 1.22102.153.0 (the one I downloaded for my PC was not available on this site and was lazy to start searching for it) https://www.apkmonk.com/download-app/com.microsoft.appmanager/7_com.microsoft.appmanager_2022-12-09.apk/
    5. Install App
    6. Connect your phone to PC
    7. After the first time unlocking my phone, I closed the phone screen on my PC and locked the phone a few times -- everytime I was able to start using it on my PC without having to unlock the screen

Issue is with "Phone Link" the Windows store app, not "Link to Windows" for android. I was able to unlock using the PC once I downgraded to version 1.22102.202.0, file name "phone-link-1-22102-202-0.appxbundle" which can be downloaded from uptodown, this one is from late November (a month ago). I can unlock the phone from PC like normal.

Another thing, if you are sick of granting the permission to cast the screen to PC every now and then, which will make the whole "Phone Link" useless to me since sometimes the phone is not within arm reach or it is charging in different room. I used this ADB command to grant permission and stop the annoying dialog asking for permission. (Note, Google removed the option to permanently remember to trust the computer for casting the screen, I believe it started after Android 10 or 11). Anyway, the ADB command is:

adb shell appops set com.microsoft.appmanager PROJECT_MEDIA allow

This feature is now totally broken. It was great while it lasted, but they've been chipping away at it relentlessly till now it isn't worth the bother. Any time I want to remote in, I have to go find the phone, find my glasses, squint at the tiny screen, poke at the tiny keyboard. By that time, I might as well just use the phone.

This is FAKE security, Google. Like forced password changes, it only degrades the user experience while making security worse. It's another fine example of stupid, useless corporations telling us how to live our lives, while they themselves wreck everything.

    You suck.
