High Latency on Wdf01000.sys driver causing Real Time Audio Playback issues

I'll post this in case it helps someone else. Audio is not a problem for me.

The mouse is acting sketchy though & not under a very heavy load. I believe Wdf01000.sys is the USB Controller. If you watch LatencyMon while wiggling the mouse you can see the ISR count shoot up on Wdf01000. Adjusting the interrupt affinities did not help.

I have an RGB mouse & had Windows 11 Dynamic Lighting turned on for my G502 Hero. I turned off Dynamic Lighting, so the Logitech G Hub is now back in control of the mouse lighting effects. That seems to have helped.

Well I've found a solution for audio latency though windows and Nvidia are still DPC through the roof...

I used: Microsoft Interrupt-Affinity tool:

Ran in Administrator mode

set Geforce to Cores 5 and 6

set Audio Interface to Cores 7 and 8https://www.bluecataudio.com/Blog/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Affinity-tool.png

Clearly this a work-around that's working for now, but it's the only thing that has made a difference so far.

Spoke too soon! ...Windows Wdf01000.sys at it again ugh!

Same issue here on brand new system Ugh... honestly considering bringing it back and going Mac.

Windows 11 Home 64bit, Intel 14th Gen i7 14700KF (Asus Prime Z790-V AX - latest BIOS update 1663 8/14/24), 32GB Ram, Geforce RTX 4070 (latest Game driver 560.94, also tried latest Studio driver 560.81 - installed clean, using both Nvidia clean-up tool and DDU).

So far I've tried disabling HD Audio (I'm using Audio Interface) first in windows and then later in BIOS.

I've disabled the PCIe GBE Family Controller (I'm using Wifi) first in Windows, then later in BIOS.

Set Startup in BIOS to "ultra performance".

Set Nvidia "Game" driver to highest 'performance' level.

Tried lowering RAM freq speed from 5600 to 4800.

Tried disabling ASPM.

So far still no solution for Latency. LatencyMon shows Wdf01000.sys, the Nvidia Driver and ntoskrnl.exe as the culprits, same as everyone else.

I imagine he is referring to the Microsoft Interrupt Affinity Tool which allows you to change the CPU affinity of the interrupts for a given device. For example, you can assign the most problematic drivers (HDAudBus.sys, Wdf01000.sys & nvlddmkm.sys, in my case) to the least used cores. btw - I played with this tool for a bit, made a real mess of things. Might not want to change the affinity on more than two devices at a time.

You will need LatencyMon from Resplendence Software.

p.s. this is just a band aid, if what jogladik says above about the system timer is true, then I think he's found the culprit.
