Displays mix of number and contact names. Used to display Names only. It's free, so I guess I get what I pay for?

I'm still using Phone Link and it's working great now that Microsoft fixed the issues. My phone and computer and tablet are all connected without having to use anything Google.

Well, I suppose "great" is a relative term. πŸ˜„

I do agree that this year's flurry of updates has markedly improved Phone Link's reliability; the connection to my old Samsung Note 9 is now much more stable.

What's not so great is that this problem with associating names to phone numbers in the Messages section still has not been fixed. Several people (me included) have posted ways to change the way phone numbers are saved in the Microsoft contact lists that seem - at least initially - to get the contact names working again. Sadly, it isn't too long before Phone Link seems to lose the association to contact names again and reverts back to showing phone numbers.

That this annoying problem continues to go unaddressed makes me wonder if the Microsoft employees responsible for Phone Link are actually using it themselves. Or is everyone only working on AI now? 😣

I guess I should say "for me" it has been working great. I enter all of my new contacts via Outlook on my computer/laptop or via the Outlook app on my phone and it propagates everywhere correctly. Been doing it this way for about a year now and no problems.

    Hmmm.... Interesting.

I handle contacts in the same ways that you do. Propagation between Microsoft Outlook computer app and all the phone apps (e.g. Microsoft 365 and Messaging) works correctly. The mirroring of the phone information back to the computer via Phone Link is where matching of contact names to phone numbers breaks down for me. FWIW I'm using Windows 11 and Android 10.

Glad to hear that it is working "great" for you! ☺️ Fingers crossed that I will someday be able to say the same. 🀞🏻

Hmmm... I'm using Windows 11 version 23H2 (OS Build: 22631.3880) and Android 14 on a Samsung with One UI version 6.1. I did get a new phone last July so maybe that fixed it for me. I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying it's been working well. knock on wood. Also, phone link version is 1.24062.101.0.
