My new crucial mx500 does not show on bios so I cant install windows, why?

Bought a new crucial mx500 sata ssd, for my asus x555ld, to make it a litle faster, but it does not show up on bios, it does show on list part, and if I boot from usb drive, I can see it as an option to install windows, but then it says it does not have a driver, any ideas?

    Hi Bruno,

    If that drive can connect to your fiends PC, can you not install Windows on it there, and then transfer the drive to your system?

    We did that, but my laptop just doesnt detect this ssd in bios, cant select it as boot option

    Hi Bruno,

    I went back and checked you BIOS settings again, it does support Legacy and UEFI boot and has Secure Boot settings.

    You indicate 'I flashed an ISO to an USB drive' please explain exactly how you created that USB, did you sue the Microsoft Media Creation Tool?

    Yes I created the ISO with that tool and then used "Rufus" to flash it

    But we've tried without the ISO, just creating a pen drive, and thr result was the same.

    Might try some sata to usb adapter and see if it works

    Hi Bruno,

    That is the problem, if you created the USB with Rufus, there are way too many different settings for creating bootable USB's for many situations.

    Here are the steps to follow:

    Create the USB with the Media Creation Tool

    That will always create a UEFI compliant USB

    Boot into BIOS, disable that SCM setting permanently and ensure BIOS is in UEFI Mode with Secure Boot (on the Security tab) disabled for the installation

    Save those settings and boot from the USB.
