Microsoft Authenticator is asking me to authenticate using Microsoft Authenticator to use Microsoft Authenticator

So first of all... Why is "microsoft Authenticator" not an option in the "Products" dropdown when choosing where this post should go? I'm just going to choose "Windows"... Sorry not sorry.

Also, I can't take a screenshot on the microsoft Authenticator app without it capturing a black image (thanks,) so here is an extremely low resolution webcam picture of my phone screen.

When I click "Passwords" section on the microsoft authenticator app, I see a button that says "Sign In".

So, I click the button, to sign in. Then, it asks me to authenticate using microsoft authenticator, but I am not signed in, and this is a "sensitive" page, so I have to enter the code displayed into microsoft authenticator, BUT I AM ON MICROSOFT AUTHENTICATOR ALREADY!!! Who designed this terrible app??? Cheap labor resources then you expect us to prefer microsoft edge over Chrome? LOL

Also, when I search my own question in "Bing", it doesn't come up, even if I type the title word for word. Does it go through some sort of not-mentioned approval process before my post becomes actually visible to the public, or is Bing just extremely bad at updating its search results in a timely manner?

This is a feedback loop. And I have been dealing with it myself. Honestly this is a common issue for new coders. I am pretty sure they inserted a workaround without actually addressing the real issue. Because I noticed if you login elsewhere you can bypass this. But it's incredibly lazy and absolutely unacceptable that Microsoft hasn't properly fixed this issue. Especially since they plan on making authenticator mandatory at some point. Listen Microsoft, fix your **** and stop being lazy or people have every right to sue you. When we can't properly use our accounts or devices because of decisions you as a company make, guess what? You become responsible.

There is no reason why I am being told to authenticate authenticator, it should only require a password. Tying the authenticator itself as a necessity to login to authenticator should be as apparently stupid to you as it is to everyone else dealing with this issue. It's not fixed.

I have the same issue with constant enter password option to my outlook account (linux).

    • My Android device is having this constant looping to Authenticate MS Authenticator app using MS authenticator app. It seems this is a major bug, even after more than a year Microsoft team is not taking proper actions.
    • I use Edge browser to login to Outlook and Office suite for my office works. It always asking for password when I try to login. I have latest Edge (125) and still same. I use it on Ubuntu 22.04

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm sure the person responding to this reply will blame me for this problem somehow.

I have this exact same problem. My phone for some reason uninstalled the Authenticator app. I also have a tablet however in Authenticator it says that the one account needs to reconnect. When I go to reconnect it asks me to verify using Authenticator which I can't possibly do because my phone doesn't have the connection after uninstalling authenticator so I have no way get out of the loop. Even if I attempt to go to the aka.ms/mfasetup which ends up logging me into my university using a different 2FA it eventually leads to Microsoft Authenticator wanting me to authenticate using Microsoft Authenticator..
