Windows update 10/12/2022 broke my PC totally!

I noticed last night before I went to bed that I had the option to update and restart my PC which meant there was something in Windows that needed an update. Ok...sure. I selected that option, watched the system prepare and download the update, and went to bed.

This morning I go into my office and my PC won't even boot! I initially get to the Windows loading screen....nothing but the spinning dots for 30 minutes. So I hold the power button down, let it reset...same result. I reboot again, try to go into Safe Mode....nothing at all. Black screen. So I thought "Great! I have to reinstall Windows and restore my last system image (which was this Sunday thankfully)." So I get out my Windows USB install stick, set my PC to start from there, get the prompt to install 32 or 64 bit Windows, select 64 bit, get the loading install files message...

Nothing! Doesn't load at all!

I've tried to get into Safe Mode, took out all my RAM and reseated them, only installed 1 stick at a time (out of four I had installed), unplugged and reseated the PSU cables to EVERYTHING...not one single thing is working! I use my computer for work, and right now all I have is a $3500 paperweight! I've now spent HOURS in Google University trying to find the magic bullet that will fix this, and nothing is working!

    Took two days....lot count of how many times i rebooted, changed from legacy to UEFI, tried to repair, install, change from MBR to GPT, go from GPT to MBR, removed and reseated the drive, removed the partition, formatted....and probably a lot of other tings I can't think of off the top of my head.

    But late last night after spending 9 HOURS working on it....the system apparently decided "ok....enough screwing with him. Let's go ahead and work like we should again." and I got windows installed, all the updates downloaded and installed, system image run and put in place, got all my drives back in.

    But now the only issue I have is that one of my drives....my second M.2 drive isn't showing up in my system, device manager, or disk management. And to get to it I have to take half my system apart just to get to it! So that is something else I get to have fun with now.

    Did you get your system up and running?

    It took the 3 power off and on real quick for me to get to windows recovery screen.

    Don't let it get to log in screen, turn on, and off 3 times without letting it get to log in, that's only way it worked for me.

    Yes I was eventually able to login after disabling fast boot and doing a rollback twice. Spent a couple of hours seeing if I could get the update to install again but it’s not going to happen. Spinning dots no matter how long I wait. Going to sit this one out for a few weeks.

    I can get into the recovery screen by booting off a thumb drive, but none of the options work.

    Fix My Computer - runs but then fails and recommends I restore (I don't recall exact message)

    CMD prompt suggestions:

    Run, but do not fix anything

    Can't run because I can't open prompt as an admin (or, can I)?

    Runs, but fails before they complete.

    Interestingly I noticed I only have one restore point now, one which was created after the update, which attempts to back out driver updates (but, of course if the week old and two week old restores/images don't work neither would I expect that to, and it didn't).

    I'm going to wipe the drive tomorrow. It has been a decade since I did a windows re-install so I opened a new thread with a few questions.

    It took the 3 power off and on real quick for me to get to windows recovery screen.

    Don't let it get to log in screen, turn on, and off 3 times without letting it get to log in, that's only way it worked for me.
