Windows 11 Do Not Distrub constantly turns itself on

Symptom:

• In my case (Win11), the Bell icon to the right of the Date/Time in the Systray seems to randomly display with a "zz" in it,
  • When I hover mouse it pops-up with, "No new notifications (Do not disturb on)", even though I did not turn DND on.
• When I check Settings>Notifications, I find DND is toggled On.
• When I toggle it Off, the Bell icon in the Systray displays without the "zz" and notifications are working again.
• Then, what initially seemed to be a random occurrence, DND would be turned on again periodically throughout the day.

Issue:

• Under Settings>Notifications>Turn on do not disturb automatically, **** I had the option checked (On) for "When using an app in full-screen mode".
• What I found was that when I was using Zoom in full-screen mode, which I do a few times per day, DND was turned on automatically.
• To test it, I went in/out of full-screen mode in Zoom, and you can see in real-time that the Systray Bell icon goes in and out of DND.

Solution:

• My solution was to uncheck (Off) the "When using app in full-screen" option, as more often than not, I want notifications on while I'm using Zoom. If for some reason I do not to receive notifications while using Zoom, I will manually set DND to On.

This is definitely the issue. This and other similar programs that run "in full screen" when maximized on a computer with only one display. Here's the issue:

1. If you run Zoom or any other full screen program on a computer with more than one display this persistent automatic DND issue doesn't happen. It only happens on machines with only one display (PC with one monitor, laptop). This then happens AFTER you run Zoom (or whatever) it causes the computer to "think" you always want DND on, even when you're not running anything. You only need to run Zoom (or any other full screen app) once to "corrupt" the DND this way. This was confirmed when I uninstalled Zoom, I now no longer have DND automatically occurring. I have changed no other settings. I only uninstalled Zoom.
2. Best then to either not use full screen in Zoom/similar apps OR turn it off automatic DND as you describe above (on machines with only one display). I will do the latter if I ever re-install Zoom on this machine with only one display. On another machine with Zoom that has two displays this issue doesn't occur. So I'll probably just use that machine from now on when I want to use Zoom. Keep Zoom off the one with only one display (laptop).

But this is the issue, and probably why it hasn't been "fixed" yet: Microsoft figures if you only have one display you'll want notifications silenced when you run a full screen app like Zoom. Even if you say you don't want notifications silenced LOL.

Sorry but that is not the issue, or at least not the only one, because I am using 3 monitors at all times and it still happens constantly. It's not fixed yet because MS devs are worthless goblins

I have given up on it - my email does not sync, so I have to exit and re-enter numerous times a day and every single time, the DND comes on, nothing works, nothing. I also have to keep an eye on the bottom right corner of my main screen, because periodically the DND just turns on. Extremely frustrating.

Yep. Microsoft is brain dead, they keep adding things nobody wants or uses but never take the time to review and address the feedback they constantly harangue me for in every worthless app they have. If not for work I'd never us MS product or service, ever. I have grown to absolutely despise Windows, it is junk

I'm suspecting that Windows simply doesn't reliably detects full screen applications (which is one of the options that can trigger "Do Not Disturb"). An indication for that is that, when I turn on the FPS counter in apps like Nividia Geforce Experience, the FPS counter (which should only appear in full screen applications) also often appears in windowed applications.
