Could not update to 22h2 due to 0x800701b1 and 0xC1900101 error. Then I managed to update and boot fails, 0xc0000098 errror. What do I do?

Sacha,

Let's try deleting the erroneous boot entries which are pointing to a non-existent device.

The statutory warning applies! Before modifying the boot configuration, please backup your system image (the OS and boot partitions) to an external hard drive using Macrium Reflect Free edition.

From Admin Command Prompt, run:

  • bcdedit /export c:\boot_config_backup.bcd
  • bcdedit /delete {9649d88d-4b28-11ed-8001-6d7368757261}
  • bcdedit /delete {4069d4e4-2920-11ed-be4c-a85e45d0a878}

Then, run these commands and post the output here:

  • bcdedit /enum All
  • bcdedit /enum All -v

    It didn't let me do some things

    ren BCD BCD.BAK was in use by another process

    bootrecrebuild "Could not find file"

    Hi Sacha, Good Morning!

    Type:

    • sel vol 4
    • assign letter=y:
    • exit

    And then, type:

    • cd /d Y:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot
    • attrib -s -h -r BCD
    • ren BCD BCD.BAK
    • bootrec /rebuildbcd
      (When you see the message, "Add installation to boot list?", press "Y")
    • bcdedit /enum ALL

    Please post screenshots for all of the above.

    Hi mate,

    I don’t think I know how to increase that partition and sure as heck I don’t know what’s that 1 mb fat partition :D

    As for antiviruses, I don’t have any third party installed right now, but for some reason I’m reports I see avast is mentioned
