Windows 11 - Snipping Tool issue with multiple monitors with different Scale Settings

On Windows 11, if you have multiple monitors with different scale settings and resolutions, the snipping tool doesn't work properly. What happens is the smallest monitor's resolution determines what portion of the other monitors can be snipped. For example, I have three monitors on my Surface Laptop 4, the primary is 2496 x 1664 and is set to 150%. The second is 1920 x 1080 and at 100%. Third is 3440 x 1440 at 100%. When I hit print screen, it only greys out a portion of the first and third monitor. And the second isn't even greyed out at all. I've determined that if I put the all the monitors at the same scale, say 100%, the snipping tool works fine. It's only when one of them is different that the snipping tool doesn't work. Also, it doesn't matter if it's three monitors. This happens to me when I have only two monitors connected. I'm just using my current setup as an example.

This has been a problem since Windows 11 was released.

I might have found a quick fix to this issue. I just 'repair' and 'reset' my 'Snipping Tool', and now it can screenshot the entire screen correctly.

Apps>Installed Apps>Snipping Tool

Under Reset, Use the 'Reset" and 'Repair'.

    In my case any of this solutions didn't help.
    I tried to reinstall snipping tool.
    I changed main display and also I checked first the whole screenshot.
    I reinstalled snipping tool after changing main display.
    Again tried full screen shot.

    Nothing. :D Still works only on part of both of the screens.
    Any other idea?

    I'm also having the same issue. Unfortunately I can't set the scales to matching sizes, as I have a small, 1080p laptop screen, with 150% scale and a big 1440P screen with 100% scale. With other settings the icons and texts are either too big, or too small on one of the monitors.

    Uninstalling and re-installing snipping tool is unfortunately not an option for me, as my organization does not allow installing and uninstalling programs. Can this be fixed via a windows update please? This issue makes our everyday life difficult for no reason, as it worked fine in win10

    Same - Its sad that this issue that was identified back in 2022... is still an issue on Microsoft in 2024 - With little being done.

    When I have three monitors of the same size... it works fine... However when I am at home with my monitors all being different sizes (32 inch tv, 27 inch monitor, and my 15 inch laptop... any time I try a screenshot I get half screen on laptop and on tv screen.... third monitor does not even get the option.

    You can take a screenshot of the full screen but only if you use the option to draw the section you want to screenshot and it needs to start from within the screenshot area....

    Hi All,

    I have been having this same issue, with the snipping tool not coming across one of my three screens.

    I changed my main display to the screen that is wasn't working on (which I use as my main display anyway so don't know why I set it differently) and this solved the issue for me and snipping tool now runs on all my screens :)
