Windows 11 reboots itself - Annoying!

What if I don't want the damn update? I did get a windows update on my PC, and it completely trashed it. Programs ran terrible. I'm glad my PC doesn't have this issue, but if I ever got a new one and was forced to use the pile of garbage windows 11, I'd be so upset. I was trying to do something on my family members computer, and it just did that. It's ok if it was optional, but not updating something should be by choice. If I wanna run my PC till it breaks without it shutting off, then that's what I wanna do. It can be helpful, but adding the option to never is absurd. Having to always postpone updates in settings is annoying. If I don't want a update, then I don't want one. It's simple. I don't get it. I don't get how people defend it. What's next, gonna take away the option for me to get a virus if I want one? It's stupid. Give use the freedom we want.

I have a new Dell XPS and my system also reboots almost evert night. This is really annoying and looking at the responses it seems this is a common problem.

Microsoft please wake up and address this!

I have tried the uncheck automatically restart but the rebooting still happens.

This was a brand new ASUS PC (Been doing this for 6 months now). Ready to throw this thing across the room

I have narrowed it down to if I have many open apps/programs it will trigger the reboot (if I just have a few open apps/programs it will not reboot)

Your computer may be rebooting post update. If you have a task that needs to run uninterrupted longer than 24 hours then you can pause updates (if this is what is causing the reboots.)

Settings -> Windows Update -> Pause Updates

This is nonsense - I don't want to pause updates, I want to disable automatic restart - permenantly. The user should be able to turn off this ridiculous automatic restart 'feature'. It has caused me to loose work many times because the computer decides to restart itself after an update (despite the fact that it is in hibernation or sleep). There is no UI way of turning this behaviour off which frankly amounts to a serious software defect, The fact of the matter is that Microsoft have no interest in fixing things for their customers - they, like pretty much every other software company out there are emulating Apple's attitude towards their customers - i.e. giving their customers what the company wants to give rather than what the customer actually wants.

Walking through this reminds me that I have in fact done this previously, but i only change home computers about once a decade or so, so it's not a fresh easy to remember thing. Seems like this kind of selection ought to be right there in the control panel somewhere rather than buried in group-policy. oh well :- ) Thank you again.
