Windows 11 start bar blank

Hi,

So I updated to Windows 11 yesterday.. all was fine, reboots etc no issues..

Loaded up today and was all fine then windows said there was an update, downloaded and installed rebooted and now my startmenu/bar loads blank only the arrow on the far right has anything load into it.. click buttons / icons are all not there..

Window key + short cuts do not work at all, i have to open task manager and restart windows explorer to get it running.

In an effort to fix this i downloaded the windows start menu trouble shooter which says it finds an issue but cant fix it giving this error

The current user needs to have permissions to access the following registry key: HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DeviceAccess\Global

I have also run various commands in powershell etc as found on the web that people have had success with to no avail for me.

I have rebooted into safe mode and the bar seems to load fine there, done a repair install of windows 11 still no luck on the bar..

I have spoken to MS Support they re-ran all the stuff i did and told me to do the re-pair install still no luck..

I refuse to do a clean install i cant afford to lose all my stuff let alone spend a week downloading and re-installing everything all overagain and getting it all set back up again.

I am hoping someone out there will be able to help :(

Try this to repair tile database:
    https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/125068-...

Before you reported back it was now working, I gave you over a dozen fixes for "Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost and Microsoft.Windows.Cortana applications need to be installed correctly" which took me close to an hour to research. Please go back and try those fixes next.

I will give that link a try..

Im guessing it will only work if the menu works on the new account/s im making?

as for fixing shellexperincehost and cortana.. i have tried all the ones you linked already before.. iv also today ran repair / re-install commands for them both.. ShellExperienceHost actually did something in the shell (telling me it was running so i shut it down and ran the install again which it did) but the cortana one never tried to run anything at all..

ill go back over them and try them again though....

    Ok, keep me posted.

You do realize that you could have done the Clean Install by now and you'd already be back up and running? The Clean Install is the preferred way out of messes like this, not anything to be feared.

yes pc would be up and going but all the things i need to setup specifically would take longer to do..

so.. i made the 2 new accounts.. signed-out of the main account and signed into each one to set them up.. both had menu working.. but this was before any reboot so i rebooted and signed into one of new ones and menu wasnt working.. rebooted to test 2nd new account *figured best to reboot to test* menu wasnt working.. so i signed back into this main account and menu was working.. just full shut-down pc and logged back into main account and menu is working again now.. im so confused lol..

I kind of dont want to do anything now until menu is broken again then try copying that database.. but i dont know if that would do anything if their menus are not working.. kinda wanna leave the 2 new accounts and just sign into normal one only n see how long it lasts lol..

    confused level 100..

So it must have been the fixes for Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost and Microsoft.Windows.Cortana applications need to be installed correctly I gave you yesterday. If the problem returns go ahead and complete all of them.
