As per the previous announcement, Windows 11 will be released for the general public starting October 5, 2021. The rollout through Windows update would start today to the eligible devices and continue until 2022.

    Connections to printers shared via print server might encounter errors

    After installation of KB5006674, Windows print clients might encounter the following errors when connecting to a remote printer shared on a Windows print server:<ul><li><p data-prewrap="true">0x000006e4 (RPC_S_CANNOT_SUPPORT)</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">0x0000007c (ERROR_INVALID_LEVEL)</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">0x00000709 (ERROR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME)</p></li></ul>Note: The printer connection issues described in this issue are specific to print servers and are not commonly observed in devices designed for home use. Printing environments affected by this issue are more commonly found in enterprises and organizations.Workaround: You can take steps to workaround this issue on print servers that meet the following prerequisite:<ul><li><p data-prewrap="true">Print clients must have installed a Windows update released on or after January 2021 before the print server has installed <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/help/5006674" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer nofollow">KB5006674</a>.</p></li></ul>Ensure that network security and VPN solutions allow print clients to establish RPC over TCP connections to print server over the following port range:<ul><li><p data-prewrap="true">Default start port: 49152</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Default end port: 65535</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Port Range: 16384 ports</p></li></ul>Please refer to these articles for further guidance:<ul><li><p data-prewrap="true"><a href="https://support.microsoft.com/topic/how-to-configure-rpc-to-use-certain-ports-and-how-to-help-secure-those-ports-by-using-ipsec-2a94b798-063a-479a-8452-9cf07ac613d9" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer nofollow">How to configure RPC to use certain ports and how to help secure those ports by using IPsec</a>.</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true"><a href="https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/networking/default-dynamic-port-range-tcpip-chang" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer nofollow">The default dynamic port range for TCP/IP has changed since Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008</a></p></li></ul>You also benefit from using client side rendering for print jobs. The 'Render print jobs on client computers' option is available from the printer's device Properties, and it is recommended that its checkbox is selected on the print server. Note this step will not help if clients have overwrites which prevent the server setting from taking effect.Next steps: Microsoft is working on a resolution that will allow print clients to establish RPC packet privacy connections to print servers using RPC over SMB.     Current status as of October 27, 2021 (PT) The availability of Windows 11 has been increased and we are leveraging our latest generation machine learning model to offer the upgrade to an expanded set of eligible devices. We recommend that you upgrade your devices to Windows 11 to take advantage of the latest features and advanced protections from security threats. We will continue to train our machine learning model throughout the phased rollout to deliver a smooth upgrade experience. We will also provide status updates as we further increase availability over time.If you are using Windows 10, you can determine if your device is eligible for the upgrade using the PC Health Check app or checking Windows 11 specs, features, and computer requirements. If you have an eligible device, open Windows Update Settings and select Check for updates. Once the upgrade is ready for your device, you will see the option to download and install.For more information on the Windows 11 upgrade experience, watch this video.

    I really am surprised that windows sunk so low as to force people to upgrade their systems when some of the older chips meet all of their requirements. Just a big company with lots of money making deals with intel to increase chip sales and pad their wallets. This is a very good time to ditch windows for Linux. I am sure this message will get moderated before anyone sees it but in case it isn't deleted windows 11 should be boycotted never has an OS other than Apple OS stopped support for products just because they are older.
