MSN News and replying to comments

I started having an issue (very recently) with being able to answer a reply to my comments on MSN News. I can comment on a news article and someone will reply to that comment. When I open MSN News again and get a "reply balloon" on the bottom of the page and proceed to click on the text in the balloon (to bring up that page with the comments so I can respond), it now takes me to a "Microsoft Start" version of that page (with the colored blocks showing on the page tab instead of the MSN butterfly) which looks like the story as it appeared from its original source (like Reuters or Insider, etc.) that doesn't have the comments available or showing anywhere; it's completely different from the original MSN page.

I typically use Firefox but I’ve opened MSN in Edge and it’s doing the same thing, so the only way to comment on a reply is to bookmark the original MSN page when I comment, then get back to the page that way and hunt for the reply to my comment on a refreshed version of the page. As of now, I haven’t found a way to get it back to the way it used to act, so maybe this is new behavior with MSN News, but if so, it’s definitely not preferable to the way it used to be. This isn't some critical issue, but it's very annoying when trying to follow-up with replying to a comment response. (Windows 10 Pro, HP laptop)

    Since my last input on Yahoo, I have seen a couple of articles that would permit comments. They were not items about which I had something to say, though.

    And, I've noted a couple of other things with MSN. One is that sometimes I get a reply from someone but I cannot reply back. The comment area for the article is gone.

    The other is that everything I try to type is tagged "does not meet community standards" regardless of what the note is. Then, if I leave the comment area, the button is gone. If they're shutting comments off for an article perhaps the message sent could say that instead of telling you you're violating standards?

    Regarding Yahoo, they had completely eliminated comments on their home "News" page for a week or ten days, but now it seems that they have magically re-appeared for a few articles, at least. I haven't experienced the MSN issue that you referenced, though I have tried to place a comment or two that the algorithms didn't like, for some reason. **it happens, right? No real thing as free speech anymore...,we all tow the line to Big Brother. Watch 1984 by George Orwell and you'll get the jist...dated, but oh so pertinent. : ) happy surfing.

    I haven't seen a movie version of 1984, but I read the book around 55 years ago, and still remember it pretty well.

    But I'm thinking that the troubles with this site are more along the lines that they're so BIG that they don't keep track of things that just annoy users. I really think their algorithms just don't work as intended and they don't have sufficient mechanisms for receiving feedback about that.

    I don't object to some filtering. It's just weird when the system rejects things that do not violate guidelines or gives totally inappropriate feedback. That's not unique to this company, by the way. [I'm a retired educator and some of the online tools we used would sometimes give really distracting feedback to students. We'd explain what the software "really meant" but we could not fix it.]

    I don't frequent the comments as often as I used to do. They censor things that are ridiculous, or make

    a statement "doesn't meet our guidelines". Ridiculous to say the least.
