I started having an issue (very recently) with being able to answer a reply to my comments on MSN News. I can comment on a news article and someone will reply to that comment. When I open MSN News again and get a "reply balloon" on the bottom of the page and proceed to click on the text in the balloon (to bring up that page with the comments so I can respond), it now takes me to a "Microsoft Start" version of that page (with the colored blocks showing on the page tab instead of the MSN butterfly) which looks like the story as it appeared from its original source (like Reuters or Insider, etc.) that doesn't have the comments available or showing anywhere; it's completely different from the original MSN page.
I typically use Firefox but I’ve opened MSN in Edge and it’s doing the same thing, so the only way to comment on a reply is to bookmark the original MSN page when I comment, then get back to the page that way and hunt for the reply to my comment on a refreshed version of the page. As of now, I haven’t found a way to get it back to the way it used to act, so maybe this is new behavior with MSN News, but if so, it’s definitely not preferable to the way it used to be. This isn't some critical issue, but it's very annoying when trying to follow-up with replying to a comment response. (Windows 10 Pro, HP laptop)

I had one notification balloon from a post and yes, it does seem to be working again. I clicked on the balloon content (not the name of the commenter) and it took my back to the page with comments available. Whether it continues to work will take time to see, but for now someone in authority may have restored the behavior to how it should be.
update. It seems to be 'working' now ( at least for me ). Well as good as it ever 'worked'. Anyone want to set an over/under on how many days til it breaks again lol ?
well that didn't last long. A whole HALF HOUR later and it is broke again. Clicking the pop up balloon will now take you to the page and open the comments sidebar, but NOT take you to the actual comment. Which is of course useless, as their is not even a ' search by username or text fragment ' which would at least let you do it the HARD way. I give up, msoft has yet again found a way to offer a unusable bug ridden solution.
yeah...the lack of a search feature in the comments is irritating. That should have been a part of the comments sidebar from day 1. I got a reply a few days ago and the balloon function was working, but not sure about now. As you say, it's not working again, so I don't know if they'll get it fixed or not. Aggravating, to say the least.
You CANNOT make comments in Yahoo news. Comments were discontinued quite a while ago.
