100% agree , time to stop using algorthyms to curate my access to news. If I don't want it , I won't read it.
MSN News and replying to comments

I started having an issue (very recently) with being able to answer a reply to my comments on MSN News. I can comment on a news article and someone will reply to that comment. When I open MSN News again and get a "reply balloon" on the bottom of the page and proceed to click on the text in the balloon (to bring up that page with the comments so I can respond), it now takes me to a "Microsoft Start" version of that page (with the colored blocks showing on the page tab instead of the MSN butterfly) which looks like the story as it appeared from its original source (like Reuters or Insider, etc.) that doesn't have the comments available or showing anywhere; it's completely different from the original MSN page.
I typically use Firefox but I’ve opened MSN in Edge and it’s doing the same thing, so the only way to comment on a reply is to bookmark the original MSN page when I comment, then get back to the page that way and hunt for the reply to my comment on a refreshed version of the page. As of now, I haven’t found a way to get it back to the way it used to act, so maybe this is new behavior with MSN News, but if so, it’s definitely not preferable to the way it used to be. This isn't some critical issue, but it's very annoying when trying to follow-up with replying to a comment response. (Windows 10 Pro, HP laptop)

2021-11-07T23:10:51+00:00 No, everyone is seeing what you see. That is Yahoo's way of saying that they decided that they're not allowing comments on that particular article. Those decisions are supposedly made by an AI algorithm and some of those decisions seem ludicrous, to say the least. Some of the articles they choose seem to be the most bland, non-controversial, non-inflammatory stories available to read anywhere on-line. MSN does the same thing, though. As I'm sure you've noticed, not all stories or articles on MSN have comments available. With Yahoo, you get an email saying that someone has replied to your comment, and if you click on that email, it will take you right back to the story so you can reply again if you wish, so that's a lot easier than things curretly are with MSN News.

2021-11-07T15:55:48+00:00 yes, and as I remarked previously I think they'll be losing quite a bit of the viewer base, as many people have legitimate feelings about some of the articles that they want to express through the comments. If they start doing away with the ability to reply to a comment without going through a convoluted process to be able to do it, those viewers will just jump ship and go to a platform that still has comments...like Yahoo, for instance. It goes without saying that some articles get innundated with comments just for the above reason I mentioned. We'll see if they make the appropriate changes to get back to the way things were originally...before the advent of this wonderful Microsoft Start business.

2021-11-07T15:37:14+00:00 well said. Msoft seems to be utterly useless in implementing such a simple thing as comments consistently. With all their ballyhooed 'innovation' they constantly fail at the simple things, making the simple difficult and the difficult impossible.
