I started having an issue (very recently) with being able to answer a reply to my comments on MSN News. I can comment on a news article and someone will reply to that comment. When I open MSN News again and get a "reply balloon" on the bottom of the page and proceed to click on the text in the balloon (to bring up that page with the comments so I can respond), it now takes me to a "Microsoft Start" version of that page (with the colored blocks showing on the page tab instead of the MSN butterfly) which looks like the story as it appeared from its original source (like Reuters or Insider, etc.) that doesn't have the comments available or showing anywhere; it's completely different from the original MSN page.
I typically use Firefox but I’ve opened MSN in Edge and it’s doing the same thing, so the only way to comment on a reply is to bookmark the original MSN page when I comment, then get back to the page that way and hunt for the reply to my comment on a refreshed version of the page. As of now, I haven’t found a way to get it back to the way it used to act, so maybe this is new behavior with MSN News, but if so, it’s definitely not preferable to the way it used to be. This isn't some critical issue, but it's very annoying when trying to follow-up with replying to a comment response. (Windows 10 Pro, HP laptop)

Well, at least I can stop trying to figure out what went wrong with my computer...but it is annoying that people are responding to my comments, and I can't reply to them. Not that it matters all that much in the grand scheme of life, but...it's irritating.
Yeah, it's very annoying, as I said above. You can click on the name of the commenter in the balloon and it will take you to their own page so you can at least see the full reply to your comment, but that doesn't help you get back to the original MSN News page that has the original comments. That Microsoft Start version of the page you get re-directed to is useless if you want to reply or make another comment. Why did they come up with this? There are other ways to view the original story if you wish. Thanks for the reply.
well, it's "somewhat comforting" to know that I'm not the only one seeing this happening. Now, I guess it's a matter of someone that does some coding for Microsoft to happen upon these threads that can do something about it. I don't think anyone wants to bookmark every article they comment on in MSN News in order to get back to it later to reply to a comment...that's what I'm thinking anyway. Thanks for the reply here.
It was easy to do before. Now it is a complete mess. I post, people reply and then it is impossible to reply to their reply. Something is funky for sure. Hope they iron it out, but at least you can comment again. Something they turned off for quite awhile.
yep, I thought it was a browser issue until I opened Edge (as mentioned above) and it did the same thing. And also yes, it's not some catastrophic, blue screen of death issue, but very annoying to not be able to reply back without hunting for the page, then wading through many comments to be able to find your own entries. Maybe it'll be fixed in time.
