Windows 11 battery draining in sleep mode

Hi everyone,

After the upgrade to Windows 11, I've found that my laptop won't go to sleep after closing the lid. The fan keeps making noise with the lid closed, and the battery is drained.

When opening the lid again, the computer won't respond to anything (blank screen, power button does nothing, keyboard doesn't respond), but it's active because the fan is working.

This was working fine before the upgrade and is a major problem, because the battery dies pretty quickly.

Laptop is a Lenovo IdeaPad 530 i7 8 GB ram.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Carlo,

    Many thanks for your answer. I tried it but since it is in 11 S, it wouldn't let me run as administrator. I'll just take it back to Best Buy tomorrow and see what they suggest. It already had the box checked for "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power".

    Good Day Gayle,

    My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 11 pc and community member like you.

    Here's the steps you can try.

    -Go to Settings

    -Click System

    -Click Troubleshoot then “additional troubleshooter

    -Look for Power , click it and run the troubleshooter.

    -Go to Device Manager

    -Expand the Battery

    -Look for Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control method batery driver that was installed

    -Right click and Uninstall

    -Go to Device Manager

    -Expand the Network Adapters

    -Right click on the Wireless driver installed and go to Properties

    -Click on Power Management Tab

    -Check the box to "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"

    -Click Ok

    -Click Start type CMD and run as administrator

    -Copy and paste the command below and hit Enter

    powercfg -restoredefaultschemes

    Restart your computer and try to charge your computer battery until it is full and observe.

    I have a brand new Asus E210ma with Windows 11 S. I have shut down completely, but the battery went from 65% down to 35% overnight. It has done that the few nights I've had it.

    Help! I love the size but this is driving me crazy. I am not using the standby and wish it had hibernate available.

    Hi JhakeSong,

    I wish I had done a more scientific procedure to see which setting actually fixed the issue, but it seems like all the changes made while going through that page has had a positive effect. I'd like to see if this is consistent over the next couple days. If so, I will mark this as the solution.
