Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders

My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.

I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.

Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

But, my question remains . . . Can I "Choose a file to show on (a) Folder Icon," as specified in Properties/Customize.

    So far, I cannot.

    Hi David,

Okay, I'll leave you alone. There are 10 pages in this thread and I didn't see your prior message.

I don't "need it," just miss it. I have a lot of folders to label once the gig is working correctly.

    Please excuse my obnoxiousness.

    William
