Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders

My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.

I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.

Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

    That's great, my issue is why did they remove it? It took the community to complain about functionality that has been in windows for a very long time, for it to be added back, when it should not have been removed in the first place. Sometimes I wonder how disconnected those who make these decisions are from the users of their OS.

    Same with Windows 11 and not being able to ungroup items in the task bar...

    This is a very simple fix.... Click on your yellow folder....... / Below... Click on This PC...... At the top of your Screen you see..... Sort View and "..." Click the 3 dots... Then Click Options.... Then On The View Tab.... Uncheck the box that says Always show icons, never thumbnails.

    This does not work in Windows 11. Microsoft inexplicably removed thumbnail previews from folders in Win11.

    CarolHorton's fix worked for me. I also updated to build 22533.
