Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders

My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.

I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.

Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

I finally felt comfortable upgrading to Windows 11 this week (September 17, 2022). As someone who works with a lot of image and video files, having no representative thumbnails show through folder icons is extremely frustrating and wastes a lot of time when searching for something specific that can really only be located visually. Who's bright idea was this?

I've gone through all the laundry lists of "solutions", including toggling options on and off, refreshing and rebooting.

Put this feature back! What could possibly be the advantage of this?

    Thanks.

It does have its own thread, yet it’s my question/post MSDN says is responded to.

Problem is, the imbeciles at Microsoft got the previews/customization issues (they are unique) confused.

Something will happen in this regard at year-end, only Microsoft knows what.

I think if people are having issues with thumbnails it needs its own thread. This thread is about folder content previews, not thumbnails.

For reasons none of us can work out, folder content previews were removed in Windows 11, but according to the Windows tech helpers here are coming back in a Fall update. Can't come soon enough for me.
