Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders

My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.

I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.

Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

    But, my question remains . . . Can I "Choose a file to show on (a) Folder Icon," as specified in Properties/Customize.

    So far, I cannot.

    thumbnails on folders will be back in the next major update this fall for now you have to use a 3rd party app , or wait , or sign up for windows insider , as the preview release you can install as a windows insider has the thumbnails on folders working . that's end of discussion on this , this is for information not schooling on how

    I have no idea what you're talking about or how this helps me get picture previews on folders in windows 11.

    Short answer John ==> Thumbnail Previews are in Beta right now. They would make to the General release soon.
