The Windows 11 2022 update brings Thumbnail previews to folders.
Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders
My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.
I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.
Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

2022-02-07T15:56:33+00:00 Yeah it's one of the most idiotic and most importantly -Completely Unnecessary- changes. How do they not understand that people essentially use the thumbanail preview as the folder name. I literally have 100's of yellow folders that I have no idea whats inside of them now.

2022-01-23T01:30:23+00:00 Hi,
Same problem here and like others really, really need this back.
HOWEVER! My default assumption is this got "broken" broke in changes to 11 and they did not want to delay release so just had to turn it off for the time being. I would assume it will come back quickly in future update.
For example, another trivial feature that "disappeared" was that you cannot move the taskbar to the vertical left or right of screen. Again, it would be near impossible to imagine that MS thought this would be enhancement. When I followed the registry hack I found on the web it did indeed move it to the left or right. But no icons. So again, it seemed obvious a bug.
It does seem hard to imagine that such obvious UI bugs got overlooked but releasing a major new version of other software I've seen stranger things happen. All the focus is on the new features important things like security and just by quirk these UI features that have been there forever just happened to never have been included in the standard regression tests is my suspicion.
Finally, I think what would be really helpful to all is if someone could confirm these are bugs to be fixed. Perhaps these are already on an errata list?

2021-11-28T19:15:35+00:00 Thanks...
I may try some of those if it becomes too frustrating, but so far the first method, which I tried, had no effect.
Thanks!
