Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders

My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.

I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.

Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

    Cry me a river, go back to windows 10, its good till 2025 and its free for you to do so google it if not no how, and by then windows 12 will be out, win 11 is a test product

    Okay . . . Here's what I got after installing -

    Edition Windows 11 Pro
    Version 22H2
    Installed on ‎9/‎21/‎2022
    OS build 22621.521
    Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22634.1000.0

    I found my main folder had some pic files showing and some not. So, I figured it was the size and (possibly?) the format (.jpg vs. .png) was preventing the picture from showing. For instance, take my sample (self created) -

    The folder showed like below, after the update. This pic file inside needed adjusting. It was .jpg and too big to show, so I opened an MS Word doc, inserted the picture.

    In MS Word the picture had to be adjusted for size . . .

    I did some adjusting and came up with the shown size, copied it to MS Paint and saved it into the Arts & Entertainment folder as a .png file, And, got this . . .

    Well, let's say, "It's halfway there." I still can't put the whole pic on the front of the folder (or I don't know how to!)

    Anyway, thanks to everyone for listening to me "cry!" Hopefully we'll get it "both ways" some day.

    I cannot install the update because it keeps giving me the blue screen of death, followed by the Error System Thread Exception not Handled. And my computer can repair this at all. I have had it twice where I was forced to start from scratch and rebuild my Windows OS and download all my apps and replace all my settings again.

    Today I managed to get back on, but in order to continue operating, I had to roll back the update, which means no folder previews for me. :-(

    This has happened in every attempt to update. Earlier I tried the Windows Insider program and had the problem and had to rebuild the OS completely. When I came back I didn't use the update. Later I tried another new update through the Windows Insider Program. Same problem, same Blue Screen of Death. Windows finds problems on the drive, there are problems listed in Event Viewer. My Drive Booster says drivers are out of date. But nothing Windows does to fix ever fixes it. Every time it tries to repair it restarts and then Windows tells me I have a problem with that same error.

    Updating the drivers with Drive Booster causes the restart and the cycle continues. Each time Windows restarts at least 3 times before I can choose other options.

    I have not been able to use any meaningful update to Windows 11, and I'm really enjoying some of the new features that are coming out. I am completely stuck on what to do, because no solution online has fixed any of the problems.
