Thanks for your reply here much appreciated. Before we take this much further, I think I need to clarify what has happened, as that might change your recommendations. (which I will follow below.)

1. I started with Onedrive having been a folder structure on my G drive that was syncing with one drive. My G drive was a logical partition with many file folders on it on my HDD.
2. Onedrive changed something similar to Google's latest changes I believe, where, what was one Onedrive and syncing to the folder structure on my G drive, and changed the G drive drive letter from G to L (thus messing up my daily backup plan), and created what looks to be a NEW G; drive in windows explorer, but is NOT a partition in Disk management. there is no G partition in disk management.

Yet it appears to be a partition or Drive in explorer.

There were some Onedrive files (or shortcuts in G that should not have been there since they are still in a folder on the current L drive.

I cannot get rid of G, so that I can change drive L back to drive G as it was before Onedrive messed it up. I do not understand what happened or why.

I will start with visuals of the situation....

Here is what disk management is showing:

WorkArea(L:) on the right side of disk 1 was G until Onedrive change it to L

Note there is no drive G in here.

currently in work area L there is what was my designated Onedrive folder to sync to originally before things changed in Onedrive and it was working as expected. Onedrive was pointing here. Was originally on G (WorkArea but is now on L WorkArea).

Lookin at windows explorer now here is what is there. Note G is designated as Local Disk (G:)

In G above before I attempted to unlink OneDrive in my Onedrive account there were other files in G that indicated they were OneDrive's, and I copied out to another folder just in case... but now those files have been resolved down to the following;

clicking on this folder shows the folder is empty so whatever files were there were deleted when OneDrive was unlinked and uninstalled.

OK, so now to follow your instructions above:

But notice in the disk management screenshot above, the second partition showing is boxed in green and shows as a logical drive. Yet in the DiskPart it shows up as the fourth partition. I don't know if this is significant or not.

(a) Type CMD into Search, & click "Run as Administrator".

(b) Enter the following commands...

DIR G:\ /a /s <<<List all folders & files on G:

ReagentC /Info <<<Show whether it is the Recovery partition officially

DiskPart <<<Enter DiskPart

List Vol <<<List the Volumes

List Disk <<<List the Disks

Select Disk 1 <<<Focus on Disk 1

List Part <<<List the partition numbers on Disk 1

== For each partition number (x) enter the following two commands ==

Select Part x <<<Focus on partition x

Detail Part <<<Show partition info

== After that, exit DiskPart ==

Exit <<<Exit DiskPart

Use Ctrl-A & Ctrl-C to copy it all, then paste it to us for examination.

G:drive does look like a Recovery partition. Let's see whether it has its WinRE.wim...

Something caused the letter to be grabbed away from the drive which had OneDrive. The OneDrive partition then took L: for its letter. A Recovery partition shouldn't have a letter, but it should show up in Disk Management with a designation like your EFI got (which is disk 0, partition 2). Let's see what the partitions look like in DiskPart. Enter the following commands into that same Command Prompt...

DiskPart <<<Enter DiskPart

List Vol <<<List the Volumes

List Disk <<<List the Disks

Select Disk 1 <<<Focus on Disk 1

List Part <<<List the partition numbers on Disk 1

== For each partition number (x) enter the following two commands ==

Select Part x <<<Focus on partition x

Detail Part <<<Show partition info

== After that, exit DiskPart ==

Exit <<<Exit DiskPart

Use Ctrl-A & Ctrl-C to copy it all, then paste it to us for examination.

I cannot resolve this issue with the advice you gave in your original answer. I still have the G drive that Onedrive created on my PC that is not a partition and I cannot get rid of it from my PC. I posted the information you requested and problems thereafter, and I still have not had any further response from you, and I cannot fix this myself.

I have ulinked my account from my PC, uninstalled one drive components from My PC but still cannot get rid of the G drive it created. G drive looks to be a "partition" in windows explorer but doe NOT show up in Disk Management. I cannot delete G no matter what I do.

Can you or someone else please chime in to help.

while waiting on a reply to my last email I went ahead and reinstalled one drive, set up linkage to the original folder that was on G and is now on L , then unlinked it.

Still am unable to go much further about removing G as explained in the following copied from the word document that I created, but am unable to attach here. I hope this will be helpful to you in trying to get things back on track for me.

Here is disk management shot.  Drives y and Z are not shown as they are CD/ROM and have nothing in them.

Note that there is NO G drive shown here. Note also,  Disk 0 Partition 2?   I just cloned my C drive 340GB SSD to new 1TB SSD, as somehow it suddenly was full??. There is now a second unused partition on the new SSD.

This is what I see in Windows Explorer: properties say 161 of 465 MB used.  Onedrive files were here. I deleted them: Before deleting the Onedrive files from here, I backed them up to another location.  I uninstalled One Drive, then deleted the files from G.   This is its current state of Drive G.  

The One Drive files already existed in drive L in a folder @@One Drive and for some reason were duplicated on this drive G. This is what is one Drive L currently.
