Windows 11 only has 45% of random write speed in Nvme SSD

As you see above, the other performance is about the same, but in RND 4K Q32 T16 the speed has dropped significantly. I know that because the two software versions are different and the condition of the computer is different, it is normal for the performance to fluctuate, but this performance also dropped too much, and the performance remained stable low after many tests at different times.

    Hi I already updated to the 4B2QGXA7 firmware and have retested. This did not solve the issue for me. Random Write IOPS are still stuck on 290k IOPS, where as before Windows 11 was installed on this drive it was running 800k IOPS on Random Write.

    I also noticed Samsung has released new firmware for the 970 EVO Plus. However, my Samsung Magician is not yet showing me the option to update that drive.

    I configured Magician to load at startup and rebooted. Still not allowing me to update my firmware for my 970 EVO Plus. I don't think this (the slow random write speed) is a Samsung firmware issue anyway. The random write issue has nothing to with the brand of SSD. It affects many brands of SSDs. It appears to be related to Windows 11 - particularly if the OS is installed on the SSD.

    Try updating the 980 Pro's firmware to 4B2QGXA7, released a few days ago. This fixed it for me.

    If Magician fails to install the firmware, configure it to load at startup (and then reboot). The firmware updater apparently uses a kernel driver that often fails unless it's loaded at boot time.

    Unsurprisingly, Win11's revamped I/O subsystem and particularly for NVMe devices (for Direct Storage) seems to require changes in some third-party drivers.

    Hi,

    I had a similar problem at the ancient times (CP/M opsystem).

    It was caused by size mismatch of logical and physical layer in BIOS of CP/M, because the bug excluded the proper (no reread) usage of the physical layer to cash.

    The logical size was 128 byte, physical one was 256.

    When the BDOS asked the even numbered 128 bytes of logical sector then the BIOS red 256 byte and sent its first 128 bytes to BDOS and when the BDOS asked the next (odd) log sector, then no BIOS used the cash therefore rered same 256 bytes and now sent the second half physical sector.

    In this below link of news there are a 4 times slower driving what it make more truth in my opinion because all (physical, logical, driver layer end so on) sector sizes and its multiplied differences are exponential of 2 (here 2 and 4 times) https://www.neowin.net/news/windows-11-crippling-nvme-ssd-speeds-according-to-multiple-user-reports/
