Windows 11 only has 45% of random write speed in Nvme SSD

As you see above, the other performance is about the same, but in RND 4K Q32 T16 the speed has dropped significantly. I know that because the two software versions are different and the condition of the computer is different, it is normal for the performance to fluctuate, but this performance also dropped too much, and the performance remained stable low after many tests at different times.

    Same issue here - new build, fresh Win 11 install, 2 x Samsung 980 Pros.

    Like a lot of people, the non-OS drive is fine, but the OS drive Write IOPS are only 20% of what they should be. It's noticeable in general use.

    Here are the benchmarks with all Windows 11 updates and SSD firmware up to date.

    OS Drive (C:)

    Secondary Drive (D:)

    As you can see, the OS drive is significantly down in all benchmarks, but the IOPS write is trashed.

    That article is referencing the Journaling issue, the hotfix doesnt completely address the random write performance of nvme drives. The only drives that perform at spec for me are drives that use their own drivers like Intel Optane.

    Microsoft admits another Windows 11 bug is slowing down PCs (storage drives) (windowslatest.com)

    According to sources familiar with the development, Microsoft is actively investigating the issue and a fix is already available via Windows Update. However, the patch is currently optional.

    • Addresses an issue that affects the performance of all disks (NVMe, SSD, hardisk) on Windows 11 by performing unnecessary actions each time a write operation occurs. This issue occurs only when the NTFS USN journal is enabled.  Note, the USN journal is always enabled on the C: disk.
